The semifinal round voting has now begun for the Goodreads Choice Awards. Any changes in your votes, if you did the opening round? What are your voting for in this round? Any books you are trying to read before the final round ends (final round voting is Nov 17-30)?
Changes to my previous opening round votes are in bold
Fiction Voted - The Glass Hotel 4.5*
Mystery/Thriller Voted - The Night Swim 3.5*
Fantasy Voted - The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue 4.5*
Romance Voted - Take a Hint, Dani Brown 4* (previously voted for Fair as a Star by Matthews as a write-in, it didn't make the cut)
Science Fiction Voted - The Space Between Worlds 4.5*
Humor Voted - A Very Punchable Face 4* (previously didn't vote, just finished reading this)
Non-Fiction Voted - Hidden Valley Road 4*
Memoir Voted - A Promised Land by Obama (not published yet!)
History/Biography Voted - The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz 4*
These are the books I already had on my want to read list before the voting came out, hopefully I will get to some of them:
The Guest List Confessions on the 7:45 Where the Lost Wander In a Holidaze Solutions and Other Problems (currently reading) A Promised Land What Kind of Woman Raybearer
ufcasey, I found The Guest List just ok. It was a bit too much coincidence for me. Reminded me a little bit like a bad season of 90210 college years, sort of.
Interestingly, I've attempted to read 3 of the books in that category. The Wives was DNF for me. I'm trying to read Home Before Dark, but honestly, I'm just not that into it. I may be another DNF.
You Are Not Alone was terrible.
I do continue to wonder how some of these books are chosen.
