Well, I did it. I broke down and got an e-bike. A Specialized Turbo Creo Comp SL gravel bike. She'll double as a road bike. She weighs about 29 pounds, which is really light for an e-bike. I was able to do a gravel ride today that I haven't done in several months at a speed that I would have done before all of the health issues and surgery this year. I was really happy and couldn't stop smiling b/c this bike is so fun.
Bike geek stuff: The gruppo is 1x GRX 800, the top new Shimano gravel gruppo. The crank is a propriety Praxis. She'll* get a Thompson Masterpiece seatpost and a different saddle this week. Handlebars are Specialized cheappos that work fine. Wheels are DT Swiss rims. Not sure what the hubs are (think they may be unbranded Specialized house hubs), frame is Carbon.
1x is said "One by." It means there is one chainring in the front. 2x ("Two by") is also popular with road and gravel racers--two chainrings in the front.
*Bikes are always female. They just are and have been forever.
That's awesome! Congratulations! I'll bet you're going to love it. A good friend of mine got one earlier this year and he loves it. Another friend who is an outstanding cyclist just got one and raves about it.
