first year, because I knew his teachers, I did a bottle of wine each. Second year I think I did cash or gift cards. Last year I did cash or gift cards.
This year he has 4 teachers and while I do not particular think they do a great job, I know their hands are full and I want to do something extra. I am thinking gift cards for them all again AND a bottle of wine each, but with 4 teachers it could get pricey. We will see.
Is it poor etiquette to give cash? In the past I’ve done Target or Amazon gift cards but would prefer they just get cash in their hands this year without constraining them to certain stores. I could do the visa gift cards if need to but I’m looking at 13 monetary gifts between main teachers and floaters. I’d prefer not to pay the fees associated with the visa gift cards if I don’t “have” to.
Thanks Poppy and cricketwife. I read too many “no one gives cash” and started thinking maybe there was an aspect of this I wasn’t considering! Even though I know I would just want cash!

I’m sorry! I wrote that I never received cash (and I didn’t!) but I give cash and I don’t know anybody who doesn’t like to receive it as a gift. So I’m with you!😊
We have four kids in various programs and we’re giving cash to all of their teachers. Gift cards are nice but not quite as flexible as cash. Ditto to a previous poster that said these people are taking even more risk than normal - they deserve way more than I can give them!
I will also give them our family photo Christmas card and cards that are handmade by the kids. We just worked on the cards this evening and I have it on my list to go to the bank and get large bills
We did a class donation and are getting Target gift cards per her wish list. I love that our schools asks teachers for a preference sheets and shares it with the room parents.
