Rug size question

If your rectangular dining table is 6’x3’ what size rug goes under it?

The room is approximately 12x14.

This is how ours is and will be in the future but for Covid we need more protection for the wood from rolling chairs since my “office” has been moved there to also help with distance learning.

I have an 8x10 under my dining table.

I’d make sure that you can pull out the chairs without going off the rug. That’s the main consideration for a dining room rug. I’d also try to leave around a foot on each side of the room between the wall and rug - any less and the rug starts to looks too big for the room. Our rug is probably 10X12? My table is pretty large, however, and we keep a leaf in.
