I tried to read The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton but really struggled to get into it. It's not bad by any means but it just didn't catch my attention. My hold expired so I will probably try again once it comes up again.
Now I am reading The Night Country, the sequel to one of my favorite books from last year. I'm actually making time to read for the first time in weeks.
QOTW: I really need to get back to exercising. I did very well last year until my exercise bike spent 2 months needing repairs. I just haven't been able to get back in the habit.
The last two weeks it’s been: The Future We Choose - Surviving the Climate Crisis - Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac The Little Prince - Antoine De Saint-Exupery The Vanishing Half - Brit Bennett The Water Dancer - Ta-Nehisi Coates A Children’s Bible by Lydia Millet (cli-fi, not about religion)
QOTW: I’m aiming for at least 52 books again. I read A Children’s Bible start to finish today so I’ve already got one down.
Last week I finished A Conspiracy in Belgravia, the second Lady Sherlock mystery. Now reading one of my Christmas gifts, Labyrinth of Ice by Buddy Levy, about an arctic exploration expedition. I have a loose tradition of putting North or South Pole books on my wish list to read during the dark and cold winter days here.
Qotw: not really a resolution, but I need to get my resume spiffed up and start applying for next school year. I’m tired of being angry and exhausted in my current job.
I slowed down the last couple weeks of the year because I had already hit my reading goal. 127/120 was my final count. Definitely the most I’ve ever read in a year. I’m going to give myself a bit of a break next year with a goal of 75. We’ll see how it goes.
I read The Last Story of Mina Lee, The Undocumented Americans, Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man, and Convenience Store Woman.
QOTW: I want to be as physically healthy as I can be - eat good foods and exercise and take DD to the beach for the first time (provided we can do it safely and isolate from people.)
I'm currently reading One to Watch. It's cute and I should hopefully be able to finish today.
QOTW: Mostly my goal is to survive, lol. Beyond that more water, 300 rides on my spin bike, and more vegetables. I'd love to find a new cooking routine that I actually don't dread.
Flight of the Sparrow by Amy Belding Brown. So, so good!
A Chant to Soothe Wild Elephants by Jaed Coffin. Good, but I felt like he could have done a lot more with with the story of him ordaining as a Buddhist monk in his mother's home village in Thailand.
An Affair In Winter by Jess Michaels. Meh. A trashy romance. Why are they all so formulaic and just bad?
Currently reading Open Book by Jessica Simpson, which I would never have picked up if not for so many of you recommending it. I'm really enjoying it!
My 2021 book related intention is to read more personal/ spiritual/professional development books.

In the past two weeks I've read: Layla by Colleen Hoover - not the best but a new-to-me and interesting plot. She Come By It Natural by Sarah Smarsh - a discussion Dolly Parton's feminism. The Bromance Book Club and Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams - the first one was OK, loved the second.
QOTW: I really need to start working on my health. I feel icky all the time so I need to lose weight, eat better, and get more active.
This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens - I want to like it, but it feels too long at this point. Not much has happened and I'm kind of like "let's hurry up here."
