Replacing wood floors -staircase update

How would you update these stairs. It is carryovet from prior owner pics...I thought to paint black with white trim under neath any other ideas...

I would do white on the riser (vertical portion) and stain the flat stair a similar color to the floor below.

Thanks so much ladies we are redoing wood floors in entire house a different color.
I will change stairs to match thanks.
Waiting until spring to paint exterior its so cold now.

Agree with the others, white risers and stain the treads to match the floors. We are doing a similar project, but our second floor flooring is a different color than our first floor flooring, so we're painting the treads blacks, but I'm not sure that I would like that same look in your space.

Thanks @sameoldstory the pics are from whem we first got house. We also have different floors than 2 level and paint on walls is requisite grey now

divanerd, I'm going to amend my recommendation then! My hallway is also Requisite Grey, so in that case, the black treads would probably look good in your space. I not digging the idea of black with the wall color in the picture above, but since your hallway is likely very similar to mine, I say go for the black
