DS2 is finally back in daycare and it’s back to our new normal at home. I have so much work to do and my head is spinning. Suddenly I have 8 new clients and proposals that I have to get my arms around and get staffed and set up and make intros etc. It’s a great problem to have but is a bit overwhelming when it all happens at once.
twinmomma, I'm in the same boat. I have until April to pick out my anniversary gift. I've sat on it since April 2020 since I really don't care about adding more junk...
DS knew he was in trouble. As soon as I walked in the door he apologized for not keeping his hands to himself at the bus stop. I says well did you apologize to his sister (he hadn’t).
twinmomma the Ipad is the go to for schools here for distance learning. DD got lucky and got an Chromebook with our district. I know so many kiddos who are trying to do school on ancient school Ipads. Would Beau be interested in any of the choices?
Just packed up my office. 12 years in 35 minutes and most of that was wrapping things so they wouldn’t break. I’m not as pack-rat-ish as I thought I was.

This is more of a vent. Today is my 40th birthday. We are not big birthday celebratory people and I took our earlier ski trip as celebration. DH asked on Sunday what I wanted for my bday and I told him maybe just a nice card or video from the kids. This morning he gave me a card with about 5 lines in it, and a 20 second video from the kids wishing me happy birthday. Tha was it.
Then DH kept asking me all morning what I thought of my presents and why I haven't been watching and re-watching the "birthday video". I finally got mad and yelled at him.

You guys our district is hosting technology sessions to teach students and parents how to use the distance learning platform and WebEx. This is the first they’ve done anything like it. It’s.. January. We’ve been distance learning since August. 😬
Vent/DDOT: just found out we have termites. First off... $$$. Secondly.. How the heck are we supposed to tent for termites when we're working from home and hotels/airbnb's aren't allowed to accept reservations except for essential workers traveling for work and/or for covid isolation? Even if we found a place that COULD accept a reservation, we'd likely be 150 miles out of the county and need a 10 day quarantine when we return... UGH.
ETA: not to mention how to coordinate doing this with a new puppy on board... so many UGHs. Second ETA: and with the dang fish on board. SOB.
k3am, I would consider tenting for termites to be an essential function that would mean you can rent an AirBNB locally. I would find out what dates they can do it and then submit requests for local AirBNBs. A friend of mine here is still renting hers out regularly.
Zoom crashed on the teachers end today. Basically we had another Wednesday where we did the assigned work and was completely done with school before 10am. DD was supposed to have speech and the speech pathologist reached out to reschedule for tomorrow because they keep missing sessions. Its been a long day but she did walk around the block twice since we are having a fake January spring this week and she used her PE chalk to doodle out front on the sidewalk. I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday.
At the end of the school day, DD showed me she had blood in her underwear. I panicked....she’s only seven, knows about periods, but sheesh....at seven? She wasn’t too distressed by it so I said we’d go to the store for panty liners on the way home.
In the car I’m asking her if she has any other symptoms...upset tummy, etc,....she says no, but almost as an afterthought tells me it burned when she peed.
Oh.
So I immediately dial the pediatrician to see if we can get in for a UTI check before they close. We couldn’t, so they advise me to go to the practice’s other location for after-hours care. “Be there right at 6:00 for walk in care,” they say.
So we stop home briefly then head out, drive through Chick-Fil-A on our way across town to the other location, thinking it will clearly be packed with people if the other office advised to be there right when they open at 6:00.
There’s nobody there. Parking lot is empty except for the employees.
They let us in and DD is begging to pee, so they usher us into the bathroom and she gives her urine sample before we even get checked in.
We get taken to a room to await for the physician. While we are waiting, I get a MyChart notification for her lab. Negative for UTI. I’m panicking again.
Male provider enters and says her urine was as clean as could be. We describe the symptoms, I show him an image of the blood in panties I’d taken in case it was helpful, and ultimately we decide he needs to examine her. She gowns up, we talked about how this needs to be done to figure out what’s wrong, etc. She handled it SO well.
Y’all, she has a scrape on her labia. Like, rubbed with toilet paper too hard or something. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️. That was it. I feel like a dumbass for not examining her myself before schlepping all the way down to the doctor.
