I am 100 years behind on this because up until now, I wasn't able to do zoom video calls...
How do I put a virtual background up? I have a solid color wall behind me, but when I try to virtual background, my face becomes part of the background.
I can angle the camera at home so that my background is just the blank wall and not a bed (guestroom), but when I'm in the office, I need it to.. not look like I'm in the office.

I always have to go into zoom and remind myself. This should work:
1) Sign in to Zoom desktop client. 2) Click Settings. 3) Click Virtual Background. ... 4) Click on an image to select the desired virtual background or add your own image by clicking +Add Image. ...
To disable Virtual Background, choose the option "None".

At home you could try to hang a green sheet behind yourself.
My old laptop didn't support backgrounds and my current one does. My kitchen has a turquoise wall and I find that is the best wall for us to use for a background. I personally don't normally use them.
My favorite video conference technology is teams because you can just blur your background.
