Do current events distract you or un-motivate you from craft projects or make you dive deeper to distract? Do you plan out projects or set crafty goals every year or in specific seasons? What does that look like to you? How do you map it out.
I keep having to teach myself paper piecing each time because I don’t do it enough. Once I get in the groove I enjoy it. This guy represents January so I just did the top for now. I’ll quilt later. It’s 9”x9”. DH has commented twice how much he likes it, he hasn’t said that about the others I put up this year.
I don’t plan or set crafty goals, my craft time has been so inconsistent with kids that I have no idea how much time I’ll have to myself.

I asked for a bunch of crafty things for Christmas, this kit from Portland's DIY Bar being one of them. They send you all the supplies and instructions. I stained the boards and then attached them. Used the template and carbon paper for the outline and then hammered in all the nails. Stringing it was the easy part!
I have a few of these in process, but, when I dyed this batch of yarn, I loved knitting it so much that I just kept going right on through. I really love knitting her designs, they're so clever and quick. The glitter eyes are great, but, they it's an event to get them in (they're designed for a machine setter, I guess).

I’m figuring out my cameo and made my son a coaster so far and a couple of beginner cards to learn how it works. Super basic but a start and I’m trying not to feel overwhelmed.

I bought myself a paper quilling kit and this is one of my first attempts. I shameless stole this exact design from an Etsy seller but I just wanted to work on my technique and see how it turned out. I may frame it and put it up in my office. ☺
I don't have anything to show yet. I need to get off my a$$ because I have two quilts to make - one for another colleague battling cancer (will be a Jelly Roll Race Quilt) and another for a colleague having a baby.
What are you working on? Show us what ya got!
Q: Do current events distract you or unmotivate you from craft projects or make you dive deeper to distract? A: It depends on how heavily current events impact my job and therefore availability to craft, and how much they impact arguments at home (where crafting upstairs is a nice reprieve).
I am most motivated to craft when I have a gift for someone.
Q: Do you plan out projects or set crafty goals every year or in specific seasons? What does that look like to you? How do you map it out. A: I have a very demanding job. I prioritize my time around doing that, followed by my kid's need for my time, and then I give myself what is leftover. I do crafting when I need a creative outlet. That doesn't usually get scheduled - unless I have a gift deadline for someone like a baby quilt for a shower.
I finished another G.O.G.E.E. - they may be even more fun to pose than they are to knit, LOL! One more to finish for the trio I'm doing for DD. I played yarn chicken with this one, but, won (with like a yard to go). Phew!
I've also been knitting these little... things... with bits of leftovers. My daughter hasn't been into toys for years (she's 11 now), but, she loves the knit/crocheted toys I make, and so do her virtual classmates! It's sweet, but, it's probably at least in part due to this fucked up school year(s) and the anxiety and other ugliness that came along with it.
And knitting cute things is clearly serving as some kind of therapy for me, so we'll just keep on keeping on. I dyed some more mini skeins for more toys yesterday:
Here's a non-yarn related project, though not that recent (just recently out of the dishwasher haha)- I these little tripod cups for our individual toothbrush and waterpik heads.
