I just answered over on MM, but I'll copy my response here:
Honestly we'd love to buy a beach home. It's a stretch right now with 2 in childcare, but we would both really love to do it. At the current moment, we both feel housing prices are a little too inflated to make a move, but we have our eye on the market. If the right thing came up I think we'd pounce on it.
I go through waves of feeling "we can do this. let's do it" to "lets just keep hoarding cash and sit at home eating from our pantry forever". Will be interesting to see what happens. LOL
ETA: Kind of related--My big goal for 2020 got completed! It was to package up our estate documents and get them in the hands of our trustee with instructions and I did it!! They had been previously sitting on my desk in an envelope since 2016 when we drafted them.

2021 Goals
1. Annual physical before March 31 (I’ve never done one outside of my OB) 2. Stick with intermittent fasting for 3 months and then evaluate as a tool for weight loss. 2 weeks in I’ve lost 1 pound 3. Lose weight (see above). I have a number in mind, but if intermittent fasting doesn’t work I honestly think I’ll just be fat, and fatter, forever. 4. Update our wills. We need to change people who are currently named as guardians.
My dream, but not a realistic 2021 goal, is to move to a bigger house. It looks like it’s 2 years away, best case scenario. I can’t tell you how much I’m OVER being in a tiny house with 4 people, 1 bath and 1-3 people who are WFH or remote learning.

Huge encouragement to read Fast, Feast, Repeat by Gin Stephens. She discusses how to tweak it to make it work. I’m 54 weeks into fasting and am down 30 pounds. It’s been slow and in stages. I think I could lose 15 more, but I haven’t seen that weight since 18 years old. I expect it will take another year or two, but I’m ok with it because once you get into the groove, this isn’t a difficult way to live and eat.
This isn't really money related, but I want to massively declutter my house and better organize it.
I've had on my list since DD1 was born to get wills and guardians straightened out, so that should be a goal although I haven't done anything to prepare myself for it and will likely keep putting it off.
We've paid off some small debt so I also want to increase my 401k contributions by a few percentages once I figure out how much I can do and still be comfortable.

Thank you suzubell! You were actually my inspiration! You mentioned IF in a post of my several months back. Your "before" stats were almost exactly mine (I ahem, may have gained a few more pounds in the months of not starting IF) and your comments sounded so much like me that it spurred me to start the Obesity Code but I just could.not.finish it. So then I decided to read Fast, Feast, Repeat which was a much easier/quicker read and I started her 28 day FAST start 2 weeks ago. OTOH, I know I'm not supposed to "expect" weight loss in this stage, but I feel like I'm hungry so much and eating less food so I should be losing weight. But I get this is a long-term plan so that's why I have a committed to 3 months. Thanks for the encouragment!
1. Increase retirement contributions by 2% (done). 2. Pay off the last of our CC debt. 3. Continue focus on decluttering the house (1 hour each weekend). 4. Implement 5-minute family pick-up before bed (this makes such a huge difference on the nights we remember to do it.) 5. Find a COVID-safe way to take a 15th anniversary trip with H. 6. Lose 25 lbs. (I gained FORTY in 2020 after having weight loss surgery in 2019, and I am so so disappointed in myself). 7. Learn to manage my impostor syndrome. I got promoted to a more senior level at work, and it is flaring up so bad. 8. Redo our dining room.
For those interested in IF, I highly recommend The Complete Guide to Fasting. My sister bought it because she was doing IF and loved it so much that she told everyone about it and passed it around. H and I were already doing IF for a variety of reasons, but this has a whole bunch of extra info. We now do regular 36h fasts and I feel so much better (after the very quick adjustment period). And we don't have much weight to lose (me- 10lbs maybe?, H- maybe 5?) but there are medical benefits that have been shown. Anyway.
My goals:
1. We have no income right now, so goal one is for H to find a new job. And once he does, set up a new budget. 2. Increase charitable contributions, especially to Black owned business. 3. Master bathroom remodel (this was supposed to start in January, but with the job loss we are putting it off for right now, obviously) 4. Be present for DD. She's an only kid doing virtual school with minimal to no playdates still and it's hard on her. We regularly remind her that we're proud of her and impressed by her maturity but I want to make sure I am physically there for her, too. 5. Put my phone away more. We watched The Social Dilemma over the weekend and it's already changed how I approach social media (though I've been taking a break for the last month or so anyway). 6. Work on my mental and physical health. Mental health took a real hit in 2020 although physical is doing ok... minus my stress eating, which I'd like to reign in. 7. DD is THRIVING with TaeKwonDo and was recruited for one of their demonstration teams, so I want to make sure we support her in that. 8. Find ways to make this year special, even without regular family or friends time. Local (driving) trips where we can hike and camp, a house with a pool to ourselves, etc.
1) read more books in French and watch more French language TV, speak more French with DD. 2) Close my UK bank account. I never use it anymore. 3) Feel fitter, have more energy. 4) Get a dog, although I'm not sure H would classify that as a goal so much as a folly.
1) As ever, lose weight. Hopefully I'll muster the willpower this time. I was doing well at the start of 2020 and getting trimmer and fitter but with gyms closed it all went to pot.
2) Be more fun, both for DD, and in general. I've always been a bit too serious and it's getting worse with age.
1. At least start adding a second bathroom to the house (have talked to one contractor so far) 2. Work on getting wills in place! 3. Continue working out several times a week (preferably 5x/week)

I did well making fitness and clean eating a priority in 2020. I am sure the pandemic helped the cause, but I plan to keep the momentum up this year as well.
1. Be more healthy in whatever form that comes in any given moment. A nutrient packed meal, journaling my anxieties, a hike... I just want to feel good and healthy.
2. Use bonus/stock money to pay down loan we took for new roof & car financing. Plus maybe save for an amazing vacation.

-Continue to give myself grace re: emotional eating and weight gained. These are not normal times. -Keep riding my new spin bike. It gives me a hit of happy and makes me a more patient parent. -Have no shame in saying F it to homeschool on days that I am too tired/exhausted. There aren’t any prizes for my kids coming back to school “ahead” and right now all of our mental states are more important.
All of these are part of my main goal: Survive. Really anything else feel yucky and too hard right now. I don’t need to find more ways to make my life difficult and bring shame to myself right now. 🤷🏼♀️
Move more! I spent much of 2020 too overwhelmed to do much. I’ve been focusing on mental health and have been feeling better. I set a goal to walk/run 500 miles this year and have already done 29. I have a coloring sheet I fill in a spot for each mile and it has been motivating on the days I need an extra push.
I’d like to reduce the amount of time I spend on my phone too.
We are moving this summer so goal is to purge as much as we can.
If the kids go back to school in person in the fall, I’d like to find a part time job.
I really need to repeat one of the courses I need to get my HR designation. I passed it, but all courses have to be completed over a certain grade and I missed it by 1 damn point. Mostly because I was massively pregnant with DS1 and just so over everything.
