If I missed this in another thread please feel free to redirect. I’m interested in opinions on the Berkshire UFO and Tsunami Spirits episodes.
I’m not trying to create a do you believe in ghosts or UFOs thread, but more of a what do you think could possibly have caused these phenomena and the mass nature of the events (not just one person recounting an odd event but people all over a geographical area having odd similar experiences).
First, in Tsunami Spirits the footage of the Tsunami blew me away. I was shocked and horrified (cried a lot). It has to be a compilation of some of the most tragic footage I have ever seen about any real life natural disaster and it moved me significantly. I think the ghost phenomenon were the result of a spiritual culture put in a position of extreme mass grief/duress. The event is almost too tragic to wrap your head around.
In Berkshire, why do you think so many similar aged children had these experiences. What on earth do you think they saw? It has obviously stuck with these survivors and not in a positive way so it feels less likely people would be lying for attention, especially when so many people in the geographic area saw something. How do you explain something like this occurring?

I have been thinking about both of these a lot myself.
I have listened to episodes of two different podcasts in which the podcast hosts just sit around and talk about "Unsolved Mysteries" episodes. Both of these podcasts have had episodes recently where the hosts talked about both of these stories: "The Stack Pack" and "Obsessed With True Crime." I've really enjoyed listening to the podcast hosts' discussion of these, but I am still not sure what to think.
In terms of aliens, I do think there are some manmade things that could replicate some of the alien sightings, so I am not sure what is manmade or not.
For the Tsunami, it sounds like they did see ghosts.
I'm just now watching the episode on the tsunami but I'm at the part in the beginning where the journalist was told a story by a man named Endo who was looking for his mother. He found her in a shelter and went to take a photo of her to show his family that she was safe. But after he took the photo he discovered the woman was someone else. He later learned that his mother had died when the bus she was riding was swept away in the tsunami almost at the exact time he took the photo.
This is a phenomenon that's talked about in the Netflix docuseries "Surviving Death." It has a particular name in the parapsychology world, but I can't remember it. Anyway, "Surviving Death" is a really good series.
I finished the tsunami episode. IMO, there is no mystery. People experienced an enormous, horrific tragedy-- both those who survived and those who died. I think everyone is just trying to make sense of it all. I also believe that souls can become trapped or lost and I loved what the monk said at the end of the episode.
I think this episode was about compassion and grief and love and a community trying to recover. So, yeah, no real mystery on that one.
I just watched the Tsunami Spirits one. I was expecting something sensationalized and instead, it was just a really (beautiful isn't the right word because of such a tragedy but I'm failing to think of the right word) well done documentary. I am 99.99% a skeptic about everything, but I truly believe the people featured had the experiences they did.
I’ll ditto that “Surviving Death” on Netflix was really good. I was especially impressed by the reincarnation/kids episode.
I absolutely believe the witnesses in the Tsunami episode of Unsolved Mysteries. The cab drivers who paid the fares for their ghost passengers with their own money because that’s what they would want others to do for their ghost relatives really stuck with me. 😢

Also, I can't believe it's been 10 years already.
That was kind of my thought...why didn’t they turn this episode into some type of documentary on the Tsunami. It was so moving and well done. After I watched it I was like wow, I need to recommend this to everyone...but then I didn’t because the footage/reality is so horrific I’m betting almost no one I know wants to see/carry any of that trauma.
