I'm listening to the Daily and they are speaking with Trump supporters about 1/6. My "favorite" so far is when a woman mentioned how OAN expresses "both sides" of politics and doesn't take sides.
I'm choosing to remain optimistic because we will no longer have Trump as POTUS but these people are still going to be the bane of our existence for a while.

Jesus, this is just getting worse. These people are something. Not that I'm surprised, but it really is jarring to hear these people talk about their feelings with no hesitation and in some cases, with pride.

I had to stop listening. It is is truly too painful. And the people they featured sounded reasonable, which is the scariest part.
I can't wait to see the list of who gets pardons today. CNN says it will be around 100 people.
I've read that so far, he is not self pardoning, so that is something?
Except it didn't say anything about his kids not being on the list....
It's a catch-22. If he pre-pardons people who haven't been indicted or convicted, including himself, it implies that they DID do something illegal. So I don't really expect to see Javanka on the list for that reason.

ON MSNBC last night several people said that he's not required to make pardons public, so he might be pardoning some people (like family, himself) and we would never know unless it was tested in court.

I know NYT has been raked over the coals for reporting so much on Trump supporters, and I've been critical of how they report on them, but I feel like I need to know they're out there, even if they're not in my circle. January 6th told me that we need to still pay attention to them. I don't think ignoring a cult is the answer. I mean, the one person talking about secession like "I don't want it to happen buuuuuuut if states like Texas or Alabama secede then I will definitely move there because I wouldn't be able to stay in this country anymore" is just nuts.

I know, I've been thinking the same. Except do these jerks see it that way? I am not sure that they do.
The former mayor of our very blue city is asking Trump for clemency. She is jail for fraud and tax evasion. How will Trump view her - as a fellow fraudster he should let off or aN enemy democrat from a "terrible" city?
If she ever tries to run again, I really hope this gets thrown in her face. He is very, very unpopular here.

DH and I both commented this morning how disheartening this episode was. I too chuckled that OAN is "both sides" suuure.

Does anyone here have any idea what the actual punishment will be for the criminals that entered the Capitol and did all kinds of destruction? Are we talking prison time or slaps on the wrist with only probation?
This has been weighing heavy on my mind. I really want to know how severely those fuckers will be punished.

I have "liked" hearing from the other side just for informational purposes. Unfortunately, a lot my circle also believe some of the lies in this podcast. The woman from the ATL burbs sounds EXACTLY like my neighbors in suburban Charlotte. All of them repeating that "something must be done" is truly scary. Thankfully, sucession isn't a thing but continued misinformation is not likely to go away. Also, the guy who said he couldn't take being ridiculed for being a T supported for years... um, ok buddy. You are upset that your racist views are no longer the mainstream.
We have been watching the Manhunt series on Netflix. I wonder how many more people DJT has radicalized over his presidency.
I keep counting the hours. I know he can fuck up a lot, but he only has 26 left.
A countdown clock just appeared on MSNBC. This feels like that scary part in the movie where we are all hanging on a slippery rock, waiting to be rescued, before eaten by a shark.

President-elect Joe Biden has tapped Pennsylvania Health Secretary Rachel Levine to be his assistant secretary of health, leaving her poised to become the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

From what I've read, based on the charges that have been brought so far, they're looking at prison sentences of between 1-20 yrs, depending on the specific charge.

Who would have thought that the oil field guy would be the most reasonable of the bunch?

We just watched Manhunt as well and season 2 made me think a lot about Trump supporters.

How is that legal? Surely there are court documents or some record of it. That’s so obscure!!

I was just watching footage of Joe and Kamala volunteering in various locations yesterday for MLK Day and it was so soothing to see them spending time doing something selfless for other people. A leader doing something that doesn’t directly benefit himself and his ego? Unimaginable. I am beyond excited to get back to these kinds of mundane official engagements.
I don't know if we have talked about this junk but it is like throwing gas on a flaming fire. It's just infuriating that a report like this was released by our own government.

I am disgusted that federal money was spent on this. I'd say that Stephen Miller's name is all over it, but that's discounting all of the other racists that believe this.
