Of course there was no plan for vaccine distribution. No surprise or shock from me. trump's plan was herd immunity via most of us dying. Why would he put work into something when the no work way was working exactly as he wanted?
I went looking for how much money ceasing building the Wall was going to save us. I didn't find that number, but I found this which is just another thing that was buried under the avalanche of shit of the every day workings of the Trump administration - www.texastribune.org/2020/10/27/border-wall-texas-cost-rising-trump/
Short and non-inclusive summary - the contracts for the Wall total billions more than was being reported by the Trump administration.
RE: The decor - I hate the curtains (but the Oval Office usually has hideous curtains). I loooooooove the rug. It's so bright and cheerful.
So this is about the Capitol offices and not the Oval Office, but it was an interesting listen about how the furnishings are maintained and the changes in decor:
I suspect part of our reaction to the curtains is they are so heavy and tailored and not at all what is in today. Johnson’s are the only ones without a heavy valance.

I don’t mind the ones with a solid valence - I just don’t like the swag (is that the right term?)

Even though my personal taste is more modern and simple, I have no problem with formal and/or heavy, tailored drapes in the Oval Office. I just dislike most golds and yellows, and find that they make me anxious. I've noticed that in photos taken in front of the gold drapes that they are really unflattering to most people.
I just followed all those Instagram accounts and now I’m teary again looking at my feed. There’s just... so much competence. Lol
What strikes me is the richness of the American experience, and the power that comes from giving seats at the table to people with different backgrounds and experiences. I know I don’t need to preach the value of diversity to this crowd....but damn. We’ve been living in a country run (or not, as the case may be) by rich white businessmen, and that’s why the last four years have sucked. There are SO MANY brilliant and talented people in the country, and many of them don’t look like Rex Tillerson.....
I saw an old picture posted (maybe from 2017) celebrating the diversity of the new administration. It was the picture of a bunch of white men around a huge table and the issue they were discussing was women’s reproductive rights. So glad we are in a new era.
I mean, this isn’t news, is it? That’s been the issue all along. The last administration basically threw up their hands and said “the states can figure it out.”
Side note: what are we using to refer to that guy because I refuse to use his name anymore?
Something simple like 45 maybe? It’s not an insulting name, “it just is what it is.” 😂. I don’t want to see him name again either, but agree with the poster who said she is torn between never reading about him again vs. reading about him getting everything he deserves.
ETA: I sat down at my desk this morning with my coffee and realized I was completely calm. No worries about what the day might bring, and no paranoia about checking the news.

Nobody should be surprised about the lack of a vaccine plan.
I've read a decent number of reports from multiple federal agencies and the WH and noticed a couple of recurring themes: They claim to be something that they are not and they leave most of the actual work to industry/the private sector without any practical guidance or actions to take. You could argue that this is somewhat normal for policy documents, but I assure you that a LOT of stuff coming out of the Trump admin was practically insubstantial beyond posturing. Much like the former president.
They will call something a "plan," but when you read it, it has no framework or direction or details for people to do actual work in the real world that accomplishes concrete goals, or direction on how to figure out those details -- it says it's a plan, but it isn't something that is executable in the way that most people would think of a real plan. They'll call something a policy, but you read it and it's basically words that SAY it is a policy without actually being one.
IMO it's a sign of having policy written/developed by people who disdain and/or straight-up don't understand policy, but are facing demands that they produce SOMETHING. They copy-and-paste a bunch of background information for filler and make a few general statements and call it a policy, and there is no "how" to actually do the thing. There's not even guidance on how to develop a "how."
My bet is that what the Trump admin would call a "plan" would, if analyzed, essentially say "Buy vaccine. Distribute it." with a whole lot of padding about how this is the fastest-developed vaccine ever and all credit goes to the president and getting out of industry's way, with a few references to the "China virus" thrown in for good measure.

I feel like we will be getting news like this for a while. Nothing they said was even close to true.
I don't have articles or anything, but when the wall project was announced, I remember contractors and steel fabricators, etc weighing in on the actual cost of the wall and the time it would actually take to complete, and both were way off what 45 said at the time.

I also wonder how much will have to be paid out for contracts that are broken.

Amanda Gorman updates per Axios
Amanda Gorman, 23, the country's first National Youth Poet Laureate, referenced everything from scripture to "Hamilton" — and echoed JFK and MLK — in a performance at the Biden-Harris swearing-in that captivated America.
In less than 24 hours, the L.A. resident went from under 100,000 Twitter followers @theamandagorman to 1.1 million. She went from 206,000 Instagram followers to 2.2 million. A pair of books Gorman has coming in September hit No. 1 and No. 2 on Amazon.

I wonder how many of the contracts are actually 1) legal, and 2) legally binding.
I find myself torn between wanting to know what he and all the Q rebel are up to, and happy they aren’t getting any press.
Like yesterday, I ran across some photos of asshole as Comet Pizza (comet pizza turned up the music and ran them off). I was thinking they are still out there. I wonder if there are other pockets in town, why isn’t anyone showing them... but I’m glad they aren’t showing them. Let them wallow in obscurity, focus on this happy stuff not being interrupted by them.
