I’m a new dog mom and always have questions. Would it be okay to have a pet questions thread every now and again?
Here’s my question: How do I manage dog hair everywhere, especially on clothes? I did but y a robot vacuum and it helps so much. Is there a special way of getting dog hair off my clothes?
My puppy is 7 months old and is a chihuahua/min pin mutt. He has short hair but sheds a lot.
This. I’m sorry to say there’s no magic bullet. The old school sticky roller is the best I can do right as I’m walking out the door and it still doesn’t get everything. I swear to god Other Stella’s hair has hooks at the end.

Agree with others--there really is no way. If you can get a bit used to it that will be best.
I do try to keep my work clothes somewhat acceptable, so I change right before I leave and I go straight out the door after getting dressed. Then when I come home each day I immediately change out of my work clothes before I do anything else.
There are still a few hairs on my work things (we have 2 dogs and 2 cats) but nothing compared to my hanging out clothes.
I’ve learned to not care. It’s an inescapable consequence of having pets. That said, when my H was working outside the house (he’s been teleworking since last March) I would grab a lint roller and help him out if there was an especially egregious patch of fur on his bottom or something. Another trick is to not get dressed in your work clothes until right before you’re leaving and absolutely don’t sit down on the furniture if you let your pets on there, as we do.
Omg fleece is the worst! Especially that sort of Sherpa fleece the hairs actually embed themselves inside it and even the lint roller can’t handle that.
Our house is always covered in hair. I always tell people the dog I have (bernese) is not for clean freaks. Any small capacity vacuum would immediately fill up so we never bothered getting a roomba. We vaccuum and later that same day the rugs are hairy again. Tumbleweeds on the stairs.
I have found the newest rug I bought which is an indoor outdoor style doesn’t pick up hair the same way as the others do. We also went with leather couches not for the look but because they don’t retain dog hair.

We used to have a minpin who was mainly black with a little tan. Those black eyelash looking hairs got everywhere. Probably the reason most of my clothes are black....

Slightly different, I guess, but we used to have an orange triple-coat cat. I wear a lot of black. It helped immensely to keep her out of the bedroom/closet. I realize this doesn't work for everyone and dogs are a bit different, but it was non-negotiable for me due to my allergies.
But, yeah, everyone still knew I had a cat, ha. Sticky rollers were the best I could find, and keeping her furminated.
It is unavoidable I think. We have a long haired cat so it may be different than a dog.
We mainly try to segment where she goes. We allow her in the main rooms that we use of the house and keep the rest of the rooms and our closets shut if we're not in there. And while I know she's a cat so who knows what she does when we're not at home, we don't let her just anywhere on the couch or chairs - her blanket is on one side of the couch and when we're watching TV she stays there next to us, or if she wants to cuddle we put the blanket down first. We also have 2 robot vacuums for our house and I think that makes a big difference, though I'm not sure if the robot vacuum is more helpful for her hair shedding or mine!

The cheapest sticky rollers are from IKEA.
Do not ever let your pet lay inside of a soft shell jacket. I don’t know why it happens but something about those short fleece fibres on the inside makes pet fur cling for dear life. I sewed up a few vests using black soft shell fabric and one cat loves to bust into my sewing room. The fabric was practically destroyed it was so furry. It took hours to tweeze it out.

When we dogsat for a lab we used a fleece blanket to cover our couch because he liked to drool. Worst idea ever. It’s been like 4 years and it’s still covered. LOL
My beagle sheds too but not like that lab. I just change my clothes before leaving the house or I just pretend it’s not there. Honestly, I rarely notice anymore. A few weeks ago our pediatrician pointed out DS had dog fur all over him. Ha. I was just like...yeah. 🤷♀️

Oh yeah, this too. The beagle isn’t allowed upstairs. It helps a lot in not feeling like he’s taking over the whole world.
... this is not the thread someone with a puppy coming next week wants to wander into.. it’s a Goldendoodle, so hopefully the shedding won’t b so much of an issue. I hope.

Goldendoodle fur is very different from lab fur. We discovered this when we got a labradoodle. The lab's fur worked its way into EVERYTHING and wouldn't come out. The doodle's fur clumped a lot (and yes, he did shed) but it didn't stick to things in the same way. Doodles can shed. My cockapoo doesn't shed at all but he's a dirty dog so we have dust everywhere.
I have four dogs. Some with short and some with long hair. The German Shepherd/corgi mix is the most frustrating because it is needle-like and inserts itself in everything from the bottom of your foot to clothing. A dry sweep broom helps with the floor and a vacuum designed for pet fur.
For laundry, I bought the Fur Zapper. It is an amazing product and has removed a ton of fur from the dog fleece blankets. It is not completely magic there is still some fur and it does make the fur loose in my dryer, but I just wipe it down with a dry washcloth because it is a lot easier to deal with.
The real key to getting a handle on it is to realize you need to do at least some type of touchups constantly.
