I have four dogs. Some with short and some with long hair. The German Shepherd/corgi mix is the most frustrating because it is needle-like and inserts itself in everything from the bottom of your foot to clothing. A dry sweep broom helps with the floor and a vacuum designed for pet fur.
For laundry, I bought the Fur Zapper. It is an amazing product and has removed a ton of fur from the dog fleece blankets. It is not completely magic there is still some fur and it does make the fur loose in my dryer, but I just wipe it down with a dry washcloth because it is a lot easier to deal with.
The real key to getting a handle on it is to realize you need to do at least some type of touchups constantly.
First off, don't buy velvet furniture. I SO wanted a blue velvet couch, but DH is boring so we finally agreed on a camel leather couch (still not here....). BUT I did buy a blue velvet chair. And I love it so. I don't even let the dogs on it and it's covered. It's like a magnet.
TR mentioned this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003465G9M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought it and it does move all the hair to one place. But it doesn't pick it up. It's odd. I haven't tried it on clothes yet. But so far, not overly impressed. But I guess getting all the hair in place, then using regular tape to pick it up will be cheaper/less waste than a lint roller?
Also, if your dog has short hair, beware of your bra. Somehow, someway, those tiny little hair get imbedded in the inside of the cup and just a tiny bit will poke out and at best itch you or at worst stab you. And then to find them (at least for me since all my bras are nude and my shedding dog is tan) is nearly impossible. But once you do, slowly pulling it out is so satisfying.
We're new dog owners, but I've found our hound mix's fur to be a lot more manageable than that of the cats we had previously. It helps that she is only allowed on the couch on her special blanket. We got her one with bolsters so it contains her a bit better than just a regular blanket.
My sister’s approach was to mainly buy clothing the same color as her dog.
We got a new dog about 18 months ago. She clashes with our clothes and house that had been curated over the years to coordinate with our dog. I did not fully think through the Jack Russell LOL

Close the closet door, keep a sweater or jacket in your car, not your house. Hang stuff up inside out. Fold clothes straight out of the laundry. Sticky rollers (3M are good ones). Have one in your car and office. Vaccuum regularly including your furniture. Our dog isn't that bad but when I lived with a lab, I kept my bedroom door closed so she couldn't get in my room and on my bed.
Swiffers work wonders on picking up dog hair on wood or tile floors.
I got The Wedge from BB&B and it works really well for cat and dog hair on furniture. My cat has a few favorite spots that get built-up with shedded hair. This is small and light and easier than pulling out the vacuum between cleanings.
I put $2.50 walmart fleece blankets down on the cats' popular spots. I let them collect hair for months (or years). When they are ridiculous, or get a huge throw up accident on them, I throw them out. I never wash fur covered stuff with my clothes. I get dressed last minute and never sit down. I washed a new pair of black jeans and immediately could never wear them. I have home fleece jackets and outside fleece - basically I never wear the outside fleece inside.
I came in to share old pet love. My 17 yr old kitty with some #2 problems (but great vet check ups) just pooped on me (on a blanket) while sleeping. Poor guy. I was stealthily taking care of it so my DH at the other end of the couch would not notice (he gets all annoyed about this type of stuff). It was just one small nugget.
