I'm really sorry. I semi-relate. We were never big on parties for our kids during the early years and so they get a "big" friends party when they are 4 since it's their last year in daycare. DS2 didn't get to have his big party either. I'm sorry you're missing out on something you love and that means a lot to you.

I think the fact that we're coming up on year 2 and having to miss things more than once is making things worse!
That is rough and I do really feel for everyone with big events in mid-winter. It’s already hard enough to convince people to come out at this time of year. Now you can’t even try.
We missed DS’s 1st bday too and I am cut up about it still. We also planned to have a big housewarming party last year and now I just feels pointless since we will be in the house 2 years before it would even remotely be likely to occur.

I'm sorry you've had to miss big events too! This all sucks. You're right that winter makes things more difficult. If her birthday was in the summer I think we would have done something outside (especially since our numbers were low then).
