mofongo, you just identified why I feel deeply jealous of vax distribution. My hospital rocked it in the first 3 weeks. They got through 8K employees. Way ahead of schedule. I was not one of those people though. I am not patient facing, but do work in person. Ever since then I have felt deep jealousy. But at the beginning of all of this I never expected to be vaxxed before March. So why am I so mad lol. But you are right. Hospitals got a huge number of shots in those early days. It set unrealistic expectations for how this was going to go.
"Jane [Krakowski] has never met Mr. Lindell [My Pillow Guy]. She is not and has never been in any relationship with him, romantic or otherwise,” her spokesperson told E! “She is, however, in full-fledged fantasy relationships with Brad Pitt, Regé-Jean Page and Kermit the Frog and welcomes any and all coverage on those.”
Netflix made I’m Thinking of Ending Things into a movie. We just started it and I’m very curious how it’s going to go. Charlie Kaufman directed so I know it’s gonna be weird. It’s 2 hr 14 min which is odd because I remember it being a fairly short book.
So my school district, after telling us to go get an appointment for our first shot, has come back and put out a memo saying “No. Stop. We didn’t anticipate you guys all wanting it and we don’t have the infrastructure to accommodate you all.”
They literally sent out a survey asking if we would get it if we could. So they’re saying nobody looked at that?
I’m in kind of a panic about getting my second dose now and so sick of my school district.
OMG. I’m sorry:( I feel like there was an abundance of vaccine given in the beginning of the distribution process. For example, the hospital I worked at had enough to not just vaccinate the first line and all patient facing employees, but ALL employees. So that included people working from home and/or working in a private office, etc. This is probably over 20k people at this point, it’s a huge system.
I firmly believe teachers should have been in phase 1, like WTF. I don’t understand. You guys ARE the frontline and essential to keeping people at works and kids in school so people can work.
Right. Everyone wants the kids back in the buildings, we want to go back, let’s get this done.
I’m gonna at least try to get an appointment for my second shot and see what happens. Hopefully they’ll let at least those of us who got the first ones get our second shots.
It’s just a cluster down here. I’m so disappointed.
I have spent the past three days saying that I want cake,, but now I want king cake. lol
I have just spent the last hour or so looking at recipes, and will probably make one, but some of the places that are showing as sold out (Randazzo, Gambino's...) still have king cakes available to order on Amazon.
I've never had King Cake, but i want to get one this year and have a small Mardi Gras celebration to make our boring lives slightly less boring. I don't know what we would do other than listen to Zydeco music, wear beads and eat cake. This might be a 10 minute party. But i don't know if anyplace local would have a King Cake.
I would check local bakeries. I am Charlotte, NC and we have bakeries that make it every year. My ds's school celebrated every year and had one.
ETA Apparently Publix sells ready made King Cakes as well. So even a grocery store might have them.

I ordered a king cake from Haydel's GODDAMMIT Bakery if anyone is interested. It's 60 bucks but it comes with coffee and some beads. I never leave my house, so I've got some pocket money saved up.

My parents both got their first vaccine today!!! I am so happy and excited. They are both relatively young (62) but my mom has a ton of health problems and my dad has sleep apnea, so they are both high risk. I haven't seen them in 13 months and have always had a nagging worry that that would catch COVID before I got to see them again. It is a huge relief to know they will be ok, now.
My mom is supposed to have knee replacement surgery in 2 weeks, so IDK how that works with getting her 2nd dose a week later, though. I wonder if they will have to push back the surgery? I don't see why she couldn't get the vaccine after surgery, but waiting in line might be challenging that soon after it. I am so glad they both should have at least some immunity before she has the surgery - I was really worried about that part and although I know it would be better if they had the 2nd shot too, at least the first should offer some additional protection beyond just masking/distancing.

We’re going to make gumbo for dinner if you need more ideas for your party. LOL
