There's got to be an equally-batshit R in Arkansas who at least has some governing experience and can give her a decent primary challenge, right? I'm not even assuming there's a viable D in Arkansas anymore.

Arkansas had a Democrat governor in 2007 to 2015. I think Arkansas is one of those ancestrally democratic states that is now firmly Republican. Isn't Bill Clinton a former governor as well? Winning there would require a good candidate AND a huge investment in the electorate and a fair amount of luck. We might get the first but the hard work of door knocking, phone banking, registering is where we sometimes fall down. As far as I can tell the election is in 2 years so it is very hard to get a sense of how the country will be feeling then.
I do think R's have all the advantages for this race and Sarah Huckabee is likely very popular. Investment in a state like this would take decades to pay off.

Clinton was there 30 years ago though. I think of AR as I do WV - historically Democrat up until not too longer ago but now basically redder than red. Yes, there's always a chance but for a state that more recently shifted more to the right, I think chances are very slim and whoever wins the R primary will basically be the new governor.
I went to college at an evangelical university in Arkansas. They’d love the optics of “see! We like women, too.” Unless an equally offensive man runs against her.

My alma mater in NWA had Janet Huckabee as a chapel speaker while I was there. She did their degree completion program I believe. In recent years they’ve had Asa Hutchison and other scumbags come and talk to students.
