It's Friday! What have you read this week? Ratings?
QOTW: Do you have any book related tattoos (quote or image) or have you ever considered getting one? Bonus points if you share a picture (of your tattoo or something similar to it or your inspiration for the tattoo you might want or liked). If you don't have/want one - do you have any bookish artwork?
I read The House on the Cerulean Sea and loved it. Really heartwarming.
I'm reading Beach Read now. It seems like it'll be quick but so far I'm not overly impressed. To be fair, romance is not my preferred genre but I'm giving this a chance because it was on so many 2020 best of lists (eta: and since we’re doing it for book club!). Let's see if it progresses from average to something special.
QOTW: I don't have any tattoos and no interest in getting any. One time when a childhood friend was visiting me we went to a tattoo parlor and planned on getting tattoos together. We were 19/20, somewhere around there. My friend went first and got a generic tribal sun on her back and I think it sunk in for me that I did not want to get a random tattoo for the sake of getting one so I backed out. I don't think she was too happy with me! Lol
I finished Long Bright River, 3*. I'm currently reading Mastering the Art of French Eating and Love from a Year in Paris by Ann Mah. It got less than stellar reviews (the title is a little misleading) so I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it or not, but so far I'm enjoying it. It's more about food than I thought it was going to be given all the review remarks. From my first impression it's focused more on the history of a few important French dishes than a gluttonous tour of France.
QOTW: I'm not a fan of tattoos. I don't have literary art either. The only literary themed item I own is the Harry Potter robe I bought for Halloween. Before Covid I used to volunteer at the kid's school full time and I thought that was a good costume for that.
I’m reading The Glass Magician by Charlie Holmberg. It’s second in a series. The first was just ok but I liked it enough to try one more. Pretty decent so far.
QOTW: I’m definitely not a tattoo person and I can’t think of any bookish art I’ve ever owned. My pets have had bookish names; does that count?
I’m still listening to Black Women’s History of America and reading Skin Tight. I finished Something in the Water.
QOTW: I don’t have any tattoos or literary art. There is a mom at the kids school that has a very elaborate tattoo on half of her arm of a stack of books and other elements. It MAY be Harry Potter related or just other favorite titles or other references, last time I saw it, I couldn’t tell. I’d love to look at it in more detail and ask questions but that would be weird!
I'm in the process of reading multiple books, but the only one I finished was Shadow's Messenger by T.A. White. I like two of her other series but I have zero interest in reading more of this one.
QOTW: I have a single tattoo, but it's not book related and I don't currently plan on getting a book tattoo. This question was inspired by a Tik Tok series of people sharing their book tattoos and while some were really cool, I was just wondering if people would still love those books decades from now. I reread books I rated highly years ago and sometimes I wonder what I was thinking haha. Maybe I'll wait a decade and if I still love a book, then I'll get a tattoo about it if I wanted to.
Read: Confessions on the 7:45, it was ok, but I really didn't care about any character at the end. The plot idea was good, but something was missing. Surprisingly, not the author's first book, but it read like it was.
Undercover Bromance #2, it was better than the 1st book at least.
Currently Reading: High Risk Rookie, which I apparently read the first 3 books out of order and am now reading the current one. I don't like hockey and have no ties to Canada, but I keep picking up this author's books on KU.
QOTW: No tattoos for me. I have debated doing one in remembrance of my sister, but I don't know where I want to put it.
I ripped through Daisy Jones and the Six. It was good enough. Enjoyable.
Currently reading Fit at Any Age by Susan Niebergall, a trainer/coach I follow on social media. Its all about hitting that wall with training and weight loss in your mid-40s/early 50s, and what to do about it.
Also bought Rebuilding Milo, more as a reference book. It's a physio/PT book that helps athletes identify the causes of pain in the body and how to fix them. I used the authors protocol for Achilles Tendonitis last year and am currently rehabbing a very cranky elbow with the info in the book. Worth it's weight in gold, and it is a big heavy book!
No tattoos of any kind, although I sometimes think I'd like to get one. Not book related, though. It would be a graphic I designed with my screen name.
