Saturday- hiked all day with my husband. It was a beautiful day and indescribably glorious to be out of the house, out of the city, and in nature again!
Sunday-a 17 mile skate in cold and windy weather. A 15 mph headwind is no joke on skates!
Fri - ran 4 mi Sat - ran 4 mi w/ my family, kids on bikes Sun - nothing. It seems a little silly in retrospect, but I was concerned I had a blood clot in my leg... I banged my calf into my bed in the middle of the night about a month ago and I developed a weird sensation that dulled a little at times, but never really improved, like most other random tweaks do. A few weeks ago, I had texted a friend who recently had a blood clot, and our stories seemed similar. I was debating getting it looked at then, but talked myself out of it. I did run on it some, slowly, but it felt way worse after yesterday’s run. So out of an abundance of caution, I called my doctor’s office this morning, and because it’s Sunday, they sent me to the ER.
The good news is I have clear, fabulous veins with no evidence there of anything wrong. The bad news is I felt foolish for using hospital resources (though they were very kind). They literally told me to elevate my legs, like on that Seinfeld episode. But ultimately, I’m glad I got it checked out (and would encourage others to, too) since I’d rather be wrong than dead. 😬
Fri: 20 min run + strength Sat: 60 min Peloton cycle Sun: 60 min Peloton cycle
Our treadmill is fixed! All in it was about $500, but I figured even if we were to get a new one I would want this one operational before we were to sell it. Hopefully we get a few more years out of it now.
doctoranda me, too! It's so fun to see what everyone else is doing. Thanks sadlebred for always starting these threads.
minzy I'm glad you got it checked out and that it turned out okay. I understand feeling silly but also feeling like you'd rather be sure than dead. I did the same thing about 2 years ago with some shoulder pain. I was 99% sure it was nerve/muscular, but DH was out of town and I was afraid of having a medical emergency while home alone. 1 ER trip and $2K later, it was confirmed it was indeed nothing. Still not sorry I did it!
breezy8407 just tell yourself it's cheaper than a triple bypass. That's what I always say when I spend money on health and fitness stuff--"cheaper than a triple bypass!" It works for almost anything. ;-)
minzy You did the right thing! I'm glad its nothing.
@peep That is so true. And I do get people asking why I can't just run outside. Well, yes I prefer it, but its not always an option due to weather, feeling safe as a woman, and then having @ kids.
