H has his first vaccine shot Friday morning! I’m so excited for him, as he’s been going into the office since late last spring. Just waiting for MD to get to Phase 2 so I can schedule mine.
I just found a spot for my 79 yr old mother tomorrow AM. AND the governor just announced here that we are moving onto Phase 1B tomorrow, so I can schedule on for me!
I've been tasked with organizing this meeting with about 30 people (internal and external). Normally our assistant would do this, but for reasons too boring to go into, I am handling this communication.
I looked at everyone's calendars and picked a time. Because we're all teleworking and sometimes people forget to block for school pickup, etc., I sent an email to our internal folks saying "I plan to send this time to the external people Wednesday morning. Please email me if this time does NOT work for you."
And, as everyone has by now predicted, I have received 15 "works for me!" emails.

Last night, I had a zoom Girl Scout meeting. They were finishing up their potter badge. I made this little PowerPoint of well-known clay art/ceramic pieces (terra cotta warriors, Nazca pottery, etc.) through the continents. The final stop was North America, Midwest, and it listed my troop as the artists and gave them a chance to show off pinch pots we had made at our previous meeting.
Anyway, before the “museum tour” I pretended my computer was acting up, paused my camera, put a bunch of jewelry on, pushed my glasses to the tip of my nose, tied my hair up, and changed my name to Frannie FancyPants. Came back on with a Mrs. Doubtfire-meets-Julia-Child voice and the kids were just rolling. It was a riot. Every now and then through the tour, one would raise her hand and start to ask about my real identity, and I would respond, “OOOOoooh, I have no IDEA what you’re talking about! I’m muting you, little scout, apologies. Goodbye!”
My husband was in the next room laughing his ass off. It was a good time. The right amount of laughter to get me through the week.
Just got an email that once our area hits below 8% they will want us in the office more. I don't know if my 1-2 days a week will be enough to make them happy.
Also they are planning this week long Industry thing and it's so disorganized and poorly planned. This is why I prefer to do my own events locally (or virtually).
I hate parenting teens. We got an email about dress codes and how the uniform skirts are too short for the upper grade girls (this is par for the course in Catholic school and yes, the skirts are very short) and how come spring they'll be enforcing the code and those in violation will have consequences. I really have no problem with this even though I don't really care about the length of skirts at all. After all, we choose to send our kids to Catholic school and this is one of the things that comes along with uniforms.
My older daughter is super leggy. She taller than average to begin with and she's all legs. When we were the same height (she's taller than me now) her hip bones were a good 3-4 inches higher than mine and I have long legs for my height. She's been singled out for a short skirt already even though her's is not any shorter than anyone else's and in a lot of cases, is longer than some of the petite girls.
She's fighting me tooth and nail on this. She is insisting her skirt is the right length. It's super frustrating because I KNOW how things like this go down (as a busty person who attended Catholic school and also worked in a place with a conservative dress code). Since we have such explosive arguments I finally tried to explain through text (this works for us) what I am getting at - that sometimes our bodies and things we can't control will lead to us being singled out simply because of how we look. I attached some articles about dress codes and body shaming. Hopefully she gets it.
Big things happening over here. I got my vaccine appointments and H finally agreed to go to counseling. I feel really hopeful about life for the first time in a year.
gummybear, our Catholic school is starting to enforce the dress codes more strictly starting today! They specifically said girls skirt length and boys haircuts. My ds is one of the long haired boys. He is afraid to go to the barber/salon --he thinks they will cut it too short. So I cut is myself yesterday. Just hope I cut it enough so he doesn't end up in the princpal's office today!
David's off this week for spring break but none of his friends are. I love his new school but really wish they followed the public school calendar like the other private/charter schools. Anyway, he requested a mom/son day so we're going on a short hike today, then out to lunch. This is more fun than my usual pilates and clean the bathrooms Tuesdays!
I’m an assistant in a college setting, and it is goal setting time. Ugh. I hate writing goals. Last year I phoned it in with a lot of goals related to working from home, but I can’t do that this year.
My goal is to get my job done and go home, why do I have to think beyond that?!
I'm getting take-out tonight for dinner with a coworker and we're going to eat at a nearby park. I haven't seen her in a year and I'm so excited to catch up!
We're in the middle of taking down curtain rods and pictures from the walls. I didn't think we would have that many nail holes to patch/paint, but apparently we do. I'm just glad we kept all of the leftover paint so we don't have to buy more.
Just had to send a text to DD's teacher. They are in a math Zoom meeting and a girl is cutting her hair. Bangs and ponytail. It does not look good.
Yikes! But also, lol.
Not the point, but do most people have their children's teachers' cell numbers?
I don't have cell# for DS1's teacher, but do for my younger two as theirs are both teaching from home and it's how they prefer to communicate during the day. DS1's teaches from school and we can reach her thru the school#.
I know I sound like a broken record by where are all the vaccines appointments for these pharmacies getting the vaccine in Texas. I have been checking hourly and still nothing. It seems to be less and less and further and further away.
All the sites lie to you as well. The vaccine finder one is the worst so far with data. The spotter one doesn't have many pharmacies in Texas.

I'm grumpy today because I stayed up late two nights in a row to watch dumb shit on TV. (OK, the Meghan/Harry interview was not dumb, but The Bachelor definitely is.)
I also blacked out and ate a whole sleeve of Thin Mints yesterday. I'm crushing it in the self-care department!
I had an appointment with the gynecological oncologist today. He didn't really do much in the way of an exam, but told me that it's unlikely that whatever is going on with my ovary is cancer, though we can't rule it out yet either. I did a blood test and he's sending me for an ultrasound. I also still have to see a pulmonologist for the spot on my lung, but he said it would be an unlikely presentation of cancer to have it in just these 2 spots. So... I guess that's good? I'm glad nobody so far has said it's definitely cancer, but it hasn't been ruled out yet either. So the waiting game continues.
My appointment was downtown in the city, a few blocks from where I used to live. It's so odd, we moved out of the city about 10 months ago but with the intent that we'd be back all the time. Due to COVID, we really haven't been. I think October was the last time I was in the city. There are a lot of things I don't miss about living downtown and our old apartment, but there are a ton of things I do! I was tempted to pick up food to bring home, but since it's a 20-30 minute drive I thought it would just be soggy and gross by the time I got here anyway. I can't wait for the days when we can dine out in the city and do other fun stuff there again!

Like you were drunk?
Oh god no, metaphorically. I just suddenly looked up and the whole sleeve was gone.

H, DS & I moved out of the city (Seattle area) 8 months ago. Other than going back to sell our TH and pick up our Tesla we haven't been back (both of those were quick back & forth one day things). Originally our plan was to go back monthly to see friends & go to Asian grocery stores to stock up. I hope we'll get to that point by the end of summer though.

It's so strange! We are not far at all, so I figured it was likely we'd be in the city on a weekly basis! We have lots of shopping and decent places to eat in our suburb, but (IMO) most of the best stuff is in the actual city. But all the best stuff is either closed or not something we're comfortable with yet (like dining) so it just hasn't happened. I am very thankful to be hunkered down all these months in our current house/town but will be so glad to get back to city access when this is all over. Hopefully soon!
I have a good friend who moved to Seattle last January. I am so bummed for her. She was really excited to move there, but she hasn't gotten to experience it at all! She lives in a swanky city apartment in the heart of everything and it's been such a disappointment.
I wash my face every day, sometimes twice a day, yet every time I do one of those Biore nose strips there is an ungodly amount of stuff on it. Barf.
My husbands boss has failed to pay the bill for our Dental insurance. Again. And of course, he didn't tell anyone, and since the expiration date my H has had a dentist appointment and so have 2 of our kids. I feel like this has to be illegal somehow. He's withholding the employee portion of the premium from my H's check, but then not paying the bill. It's very frustrating. So now H has to cancel an appointment he has tonight for some work, plus an appointment with the Oral Sx next week and I have to cancel my cleaning. Awesome.

This is AWESOME!!! I’m crying laughing just imagining it!

Not their personal number but we can message through an app. My kids teacher did call me once from her personal cell but I purposefully did not save it because that seemed to cross a line.

Walmart opens at midnight. Change your phone to San Juan, PR at 10pm and it will show the new appointments. CVS opens new appointments at roughly 5am. They go fast! HEB is random but often a few at a time in the afternoon.
Many pharmacies are part of the federal program, not the state, so they won’t show up on finders gathered from state allotments.
