It was a more prolific week for me, probably because I was rushing to get through two ebooks before they needed to be returned.
I read Infinite Country and Milk Fed earlier in the week. Infinite Country was excellent. Milk Fed was a ride. I really liked it but it's pretty sexually graphic. My mom has it on her reading list and I'm going to tell her to skip it lol. She will NOT be into that.
Right now I'm in the middle of When Harry Met Minnie: A True Story of Love and Friendship. It's a good book for animal (especially dog) lovers. Also, if you're a fan of CBS Sunday Morning then you might enjoy a book by Martha Teichner.
I finished The Upstairs House by Julia Fine — liked the first 2/3 a lot, didn’t love the rest much. Now reading White Ivy by Susie Yang, which seems good so far.
QOTW: anything carb-heavy, but most soups will do the trick too
Reading Art of Racing in the Rain and listening to Promised Land. Promised Land had a huge waitlist so it shouldn’t have popped up this soon, so I figured I better do it even though our book club discussion isn’t until the end of the year.
Earlier this week I finished The Rose Code by Kate Quinn, which was fantastic.
Then I started Things in Jars by Jess Kidd. The writing style didn't appeal to me at all so I quit after one chapter. It's too bad because it was on my hold list for months and the story sounded good.
Now I am reading Something In the Water by Catherine Steadman. It's fine, definitely a good escapist read and I needed that because of a big work event today.
QOTW: cheese is it's many forms, including mac and cheese for sure.
I'm reading The Invisie Life of Addie LaRue and really enjoying it.
I just picked up The Girl with the Louding Voice today. Both have a wait list and the weather is gorgeous here so i plan to spend a lot of time in my hammock reading this weekend.
QOTW-scrambled eggs and toast. Fresh baked bread and butter. Chicken fingers and mac and cheese. Cake. Food is my love language and my drug of choice. Lol.

I read American Royals and Majesty by Katharine McGee. I really love the books that take something that happened in history and explored if the opposite had happened. This was what if George Washington had become king instead of president and America was a monarchy.
I just finished So You Want to Talk About Race this afternoon, meanwhile I'm still working on Stamped from the Beginning. I'm also reading Save the Cat Writes a Novel (which I'm reading for my writing group), and Alien Secrets (which for a book about time traveling nazis and a passel of aliens, is super boring and incredibly cliché, but I'm going to confess that I kind of love ripping books to shreds in 1 star reviews, so I'm hate reading it to finish up).
QOTW: Eggs, particularly with a runny yolk. Specifically an egg in a nest, followed closely by either a poached egg in ramen (if I'm doing it myself) or those seasoned half-boiled eggs from a restaurant.
I also finished Anxious People this week. I thought it was pretty good.
QOTW: One thing I’ve been eating since I was a kid is Super Pretzels. The box still looks like it’s from the 1990s when my mom used to buy them. Cheaper substitutes are not the same. They’re warm and fill you up just the right amount.

Working on Uprooted still and I just started All the Ugly and Wonderful Things on Audible.
Just finished listening to Unfuck Your Brain. First, the audio book quality is horrible. The book itself was ok. I felt like it did more explaining than giving advice, and I felt like the swearing was overly forced most of the time.
Comfort food in my mind is easy stuff like mac and cheese or cereal. Or chocolate. Chocolate can always comfort me 😆

I've adapted it a bit over time but I highly recommend. I do two eggs per serving for more yolk.
Oh, that looks great. I love capers too. And I agree that doubling the eggs would be the right call. I always order an extra egg for my ramen, and when a friend of ours makes us Thai street favorite (I don't know what it's really called; that's what the Thai restaurant calls it and he figured out how to make it) I always have him make mine with two eggs.
Basically, except for burgers*, if I have the option to add an egg or an extra egg, I do. LOL! I'm the exact opposite of my sister, who hates eggs no matter how they are prepared, whereas I will eat them pretty much anyway except pickled. *I like eggs on burgers, but I find it to be too messy.

I love that book. It's so sad / haunting / controversial, but so beautifully written. I picked it for one of my book clubs and we had about half again as many people come as usual, and was such a great discussion.
If you enjoy it, I highly recommend checking out the author's blog/newsletter when you are done, so read the alternate ending chapters (although be forewarned, it's basically another half of a book, and it's much darker). mailchi.mp/f6a0a4f7f8b3/atuawt_alternate_reality

Thanks for the rec! I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on this book. People seem to really love it or hate it, haha. So we'll see how I feel about it!
I didn't get much reading done this week since it is Spring Break so I'm still working on the same book I thought I would finish last week.
QOTW: My mom's tuna casserole and her seafood pasta. I've been following a low carb life style for a while now so I've had to modify the recipes. They are different, but still good. If I want something quick my go to comfort food is Halo Top chocolate cheesecake ice cream.
