We are being kind of lazy today, other than the workout I got in. I wasn't planning on working out today because I was certain I'd have a spot or two cut off at the dermatologist yesterday. Nothing got cut off and I felt motivated so I got a 5th workout in for the week for the first time probably all year.
DH went to go have lunch with a friend. When he gets home we are going to deliver laundry soap that I sold way too much of for DS's school fundraiser. All the other parents posted about it on FB so I threw it up there too. They all sold like 3 5 gallon buckets. I sold freaking 10. 10. We also have pizza with friends tonight and the kids are so excited.
DH works tomorrow. The kids and I will pick up groceries, go to a 4H meeting and deliver the rest of the soap. I'm going to fit laundry in between all that.
We are in spring break for the next two weeks so things can be a little relaxed. We aren't going anywhere, but I'll probably only work 4 full days the entire time. I'm excited for a break in the mornings.
I had yesterday off which was nice because the kids were at school. I feel like I am processing trauma from the anniversary of the pandemic and everything shutting down and still going through the pandemic, and I am PMSing. So today, I am at work and I'm still tired and PMSing somewhat.
People have had unusual problems this week, like someone took 2 discs home and then said they only had 1. We looked all over, eliminated all possibilities, and I'm thinking this person has to have it. Sure enough, come in the next day with it. Lots of weird stuff like that.
DH is with the kids but also he has a massage today, so hopefully that helps him. I need one too or at least go to the chiro. My plan is to be lazy tomorrow and go to the park.
Our spring break is on the 27th, and I took the week off, so I am excited. We rented a place within driving distance. I think it will not be that exciting in terms of doing things, but definitely better than being at home. Lots of time in the hot tub and hiking.
DD2 and I were up at 615, left the house at 645 to get to her soccer tournament 45 mins away. I had to stream the first game on FB live because o e one parent is allowed into the facility at a time. So I got in first, then sat in the parking lot for the 2nd game.
Then we met my mom to pick out DD2’s First Communion dress. We finished quickly, so I dropped DD2 off at a friend’s house. DD1 had a friend over while I was gone.
Tomorrow will be 7,583 loads of laundry and the last game of the tournament. Parking lot live stream again.
I'm working. DD is with me as she has a private lesson this afternoon and she brought the dog to entertain her. She also has a weekend of no electronics. DH is working all weekend also as the truck was late delivering supplies which backlogged them.
It is rainy and nasty outside because we started spring break. DD has plans the first 3 days next week so I will get 3 days of quiet worktime. M/W she is hanging with my mom and Tuesday she is hanging with a friend.
Beau and I stayed in bed til 11 this morning before he left for work. We haven't been awake/at home at the same time all week because of the opening. I never sleep in, I'm usually too rushed to get everything done for the day.
I've spent the rest of the day trying to get stuff from the storage unit into the basement and organized. Up next is fixing a leaking pipe in the bathroom. Very exciting homeowner stuff over here.
Today was DD’s first softball game, then we went to a shopping center with playgrounds and hit Whole Foods. Both little boys took a good nap, so I got to sit and read in the sun, then I took the two little boys to the beach for an hour while DH took the big kids to the little neighborhood BMX track. Also DH got his first covid shot. So definitely not a bad day over here!
We are on day 2 of taking long walks with the kids. DD1 is almost 8 and the 4 year olds ride in the stroller. Hit 8k steps both days. Kids also had dance and then DD1 had a bunch of friends over (4 friends plus 2 younger siblings) for a total of 8 kids at my house for pizza, s’mores and a couple of hours of outdoor playtime.
We went for a hike today. About halfway through I started thinking we shouldn't have gone since DD1 had a covid exposure at school this week (her BFF's mom tested positive Tuesday, kid started showing symptoms Wednesday). They are masked 100% of the time, DD double masks and they are good about distancing, and we saw no one and still wore masks but now I feel guilty. We're getting her tested Monday morning but we won't do anything tomorrow.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Parent confession: I wish my kid enjoyed playing sports even a tiny bit. I’d like to go cheer for some sportsball on the weekends with the other parents. But she is anti-everything-we’ve-tried.
She’s naturally a strong swimmer. Swim team practice around here though is 8-9am, Mon-Thurs from the day school lets out through end of July. Incompatible with full-time day camp, which we need her to attend because jobs.
We had soccer yesterday, a friend came over for about an hour afterwards, we did screen printing and did food science (meringues, this time.. another 13 recipes/experiments to go..) and I’m thoroughly exhausted.
I need to get a workout in today and then drive up to meet my old boss, who rescheduled our Thursday dinner..

I feel this 100%. DS is not a fan of sports and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little heartbroken. I played 3 sports 1st through 6th, 2 for the next 4 years and 1 my last 2 years of school. My brother was the same way and my dad was one of those small town sports legends. DH played football, wrestled and did track&field. How he came out hating sports is beyond me. It's really baffling. I'm even pushing golf and I HATE golf.
I'm crossing my fingers DD likes something. I'll probably cry if she doesn't.

I feel this too. I don’t want to be sucked into the world of six games on a weekend and running to practice every night but I’d love for each kid to do one thing. They are both in middle school next year and are planning to play soccer so I hope they continue with that.
I admit I don’t get it. I was a D1 athlete in college. My husband played sports through high school. Where did these kids come from?!

Oh same with this anti sports kid issue. I do think there is a spark there with DD that might turn into something. But with DS, even when we bring up the idea of sports in his teacher or counselor's presence they are always like yeaaaaaah...not every kid will do sports. LOL
We just got back from WDW. A big swing for us since we really are covid cautious people most of the time. It was...really something. I don't know. Also, after this trip I feel like I have a total body hangover. Like I just ran a marathon or something. I thought having a day to recover was a good idea but now I feel like I need two days or more to recover.
DS has zero interest in sports. DD loves to run and is absurdly fast. Her grandfather ran track at Michigan, so we are hopeful she got his genes. We would love for her to be on a track team but there aren’t any near us. She flipping hates team sports. We may try tennis since it can be a team sport with an individual component.

We are opposite when it comes to sports. DH and I are the most unatheletic people, and DS loves every sport imaginable. He's pretty good too. Right now he does hockey and soccer at a higher level. He Amazingly, DD is even more athletic. She's not quite into team sports though.

Whelp. Just found out DD and DS's teachers did not know they would be virtual this week due to voluntary travel quarantine.
For some reason that administration asked everyone to voluntarily declare if they were traveling and would be voluntarily quarantining and made arrangements for us to pick up our computers after they were updated over spring break.... but then did not notify teachers about what our answers were???

I took Thursday and Friday off and we had spring break shenanigans! It was great. Masked up and headed to the zoo with my BFF Thursday, took them kayaking with my dad on Friday, Saturday we all took the dogs to hang at the park and then H helped them do a bunch of science experiments, today we had an indoor picnic and watch Onward (also cleaned house and did laundry.) I feel so relaxed.
Also I booked a cabin a couple of states north for the first week of August. Leap of faith! Our first real trip since December 2019.

mustardseed2007, I live nearby and I heard that the Mouse was insane last week, crazy long lines, etc. I hope you had an okay time even with all of that.

And then my kid ended the weekend with the most stubborn, shrieking, just disaster of a bedtime. You hear about the terrible twos and the fucking threes, but both my kids were most difficult in kindergarten. So far, anyway.
Like give me a 2 year old tantrum over a boundary-pushing you-can’t-make-me contest of wills any day.

I have been describing it like it was September 2013 type crowds, not spring break 2019 crowds.
The lines were long, especially with the spacing, but they also moved. Some of the lines (not all) were way over estimated on the wait time. We got into a frozen line that was estimated at 70 minutes and it turned out to be 30 minutes.
Between getting to the park very early each day and also booking a VIP tour day, we had a great time and were able to do everything we wanted and then some.
The biggest issue was limited monorail service which meant we had to take the monorail from epcot. In the evening (3 hours before closing) we ended up having to wait until a 5th bus came by for us to be able to get on due to limited capacity on busses (which was great! Loved and respected that! But have more buses!). The next time we ended at ECPOT and saw a big line for the bus for our hotel, we took a lyft home, which was glorious.

How was it? We are scheduled to go April 2. Also a big swing for us as we have been fairly cautious for the last year.
