So I was looking at dude ranches in Colorado. I was actually looking for family camps, but that led me back to dude ranches. Omg. Hawaii would be much cheaper.
This made me laugh bc there is a “glamping” dude ranch near me and I looked at it on a lark once and went “JFC I could just go to the Ritz.”
Wow, and Hawaii was pretty expensive so dude ranches must be $$$.
mommyatty- They have family weekend camps at the kids sleepaway summer camp. Usually it is memorial or labor day weekend. I think they would be pretty fun, but they are with other people, so might be better during non-covid times. Plus DD told me she wants to go to the camp first before we do a family camp.
Yes, my good friends are horse people and really want to do a dude ranch soon but they’re super expensive. Typically they’re all inclusive. And not ideal for me to bring my kids too young to ride horses.
My BIL & SIL did a dude ranch near our friends place over spring break. The pictures of the houses and activities were amazing so I went to investigate thinking maybe I would spoil DD with a trail ride. 1 hour trail ride was $150. To rent a house it was $2k a night. Sorry way too rich for me. I can take DD to the coast and do a 90 minute beach ride for $60.
Thanks in part to this thread, I just made appointments for all 3 of us to get passports. (DH and I both let our passports expire so they can’t be renewed by mail.)
Maybe an incredible international trip will follow!
So we're pretty sure our trip to London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Bruges is not happening in June (again...), but it's looking like we might be able to go to England for 2 weeks. So we're considering London, Cotswold and Cornwall.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I’ve booked us a cabin in Asheville for July. It’ll be hot but home will be hotter. We’re bringing the dogs and the kayak & SUPs. I have dreams of brewery courtyards and touring the Biltmore.
I imagine we’ll make up for a lost year and visit H’s parents at the beach quite a bit now that they’re vaccinated and we almost are. In the fall we’re hoping for a couple trip to Colorado, we’ll see.

After all that we just booked Hawaii for August. Smh. I’m soooo looking forward to a real beach vacation. It’s a direct flight and the hotel looks nice so I’m hoping we all have a pleasant trip together.
