We are all getting tested today. I wanted to see if any of us caught it from the ski hill/hotel from the beginning of the week. But then I don't know what we shoild do about yesterday's exposure. Technically he wasn't there, so unless his wife and kids test positive, we should be ok right?

That is correct. No quarantine contacts of contacts unless the contacts become infected.

But aren't covid tests only accurate a few days after exposure? So let's say he gave it to his wife and kids after he started showing symptoms Friday, they wouldn't show symptoms or test positive a few days after that (so tomorrow onwards?)
Sorry, I'm obviously spiralling as again, he would have been so careful. And the poor guy, he originally didn't even want to go skiing but it was his wife's birthday and we all kind of said ski hills (mandatory masks) and hotels (wirh no eating at restaurants) should be safe. 😟
I think we can’t just quarantine everyone. His family should be quarantining because they have a close contact with him.
You don’t know if you are a close contact because 2 days before Friday would mean Wednesday, and you didn’t see him Wednesday. However if you think you might have exposure in the ski trip then you should get tested (which you are getting tested).
If you think your exposure is from Sat outdoor Easter egg hunt then you would need to know if any of the other family members tested positive.
If they all test and you all test, I think you can catch the cases, so I wouldn’t worry 100% on the timing of the tests. If someone tests negative and has no symptoms then they should be good. If someone tests negative and gets symptoms then they should test again- it’ll probably turn positive then. That is why you test and watch for symptoms. Clear as mud? The best times to test are 4-5 days after exposure. So it depends on when you think exposure was. But you don’t know yet whether you had an exposure. The other family should get tested and then notify you of the results.
I’ve done too many quarantines of employees at work.
DS is puking. This is the third time we have gone through this in the last 2 months. The first time, MIL had had something a few days before, so we were confident in what it was. The second episode, we assumed it was allergies and he cleared up within 2 days. Now here we are again. He says his head hurts, right between his eyebrows on his forehead, and pollen here is insane right now. So I’m thinking the poor kid has a sinus infection brought on by his allergies. But good lord, I am tired of dealing with puke.
His pediatrician doesn’t believe in zofran, so as much as we love him, I’m probably going to change pediatricians. I’m sick of ending up in the ER with a horribly dehydrated kid getting an IV because he can’t keep anything at all down.
