Speaking of clothes...can anyone recommend work pants that are actually comfortable? *Lots* of my current teacher wardrobe won't work in Dubai, so I'm thinking of just multiple pairs of the same pants. Bonus points for tall sizes and forgiving waistbands (thanks, perimenopause and wine!). I've been eyeing those Betabrand yoga dress pants, but there models are...not me, so.

New York & Co has a pull on pant that's super comfortable. I have like 4 pairs and wore them regularly when I went into the office.

I mostly hate pants and try to live in dresses, though.
NY&Co is all I wear for dress pants. They’re just like wearing yoga pants all day. I wore them when I was doing therapy and spent most of my day sitting on the floor or squatting down.
I have some pairs that have started to pull after a year or so and other pairs that are in great shape after many years. No rhyme or reason...but they’re about $20 a pair. Their longs are actually long, too! I’m 5’9” with long legs and need to wear pretty high heels to keep them off the floor!

Like 5 years ago I got all the women on my hooked on them.
There were only 6 of us but by the end of 4 weeks, we all had at least 2 pairs.
On Sunday, I am participating in a "Knit-a-thon". 12 hours of knitting to raise funds for food-related charities...
I signed up, because, well, perfect excuse to spend the whole dang day knitting! And, look, good causes to raise monies for!
But, it turns out that the folks organizing it actually have a plan... Anyone that raises at least $100 is getting access to a zoom session for the day that will include a bunch of guest speakers. And the speaker list looks amazing! I'm excited for the knitting, but also for the sessions. (I simply donated $100 to make sure I'd get into the zoom... maybe not quite the intent, but I am probably not the only one...)
DH has agreed to do some yardwork at a friend's house all weekend, so I'll get to watch/participate and knit all day alone in a quiet house. It sounds amazing!

I’m annoyed at social media algorithms (and also my lack of capacity and skill to do more engaging promo).
Yesterday I posted a cool gif like thing that I made on Canva encouraging people to become a monthly donor for my new nonprofit (you get a cool enamel pin! Yay!). On insta, only two people liked it other than me - my husband and my co- founder. On FB, only 2 people liked it (54 viewed it).
Today, I posted a pic (from another org) and typed the caption they used because two of our members were involved in a new course offering they just announced. That one got 21 likes on insta.
I realize in the grand scheme of things, none of these numbers are great, but I need more people to see and like the donation one, darn it!
I’m up looking at local election returns, and democrats have won in every local race I’m following! I also have two awesome coworkers who ran for office, and both won!
Local election related, I think I posted about the guy who was outted as a serial sexual harasser who was running for mayor. He lost the election, by a lot. It made me happy seeing that news today. Plus, I think we have a really good mayor who was elected!

i haven't bought the betabrand ones (yet) but if you click around on the site, it is possible to see models who are larger sizes. I don't think they have models in EVERY size, but you can at least see how they look on someone who isn't a size 2. Assuming that's what you meant, I guess.
That said I'm on the fence after looking at them. I think the larger models look nice, but the pants are a bit tight. With a long shirt or cardigan they'd be fine, but I am not sure wearing pants that fitted are ideal for an office otherwise.
If you do wear a larger size (10+) I've found the Torrid dress pants to be comfortable. They have elastic wastebands but don't look sloppy IMO. And you can get them in tall, though the talls are REALLY tall (I'm 5'9 and would need to hem the talls if I didn't want to be stepping on them in flats).

I’m not sure if you’re needing to go a more professional route than you do currently, or more casual. If it’s casual, I really like these linen-bland drawstring pants from Old Navy. They have elastic, and come in tall sizes. I’m thinking in Dubai you’ll need to dress modestly? I wore these with long tees/tunics/sweaters/scarfs in Morocco and felt like I was dressed appropriately modestly compared to the local women.
For size reference, I’m 5’7”, 205, 12/14, and wear a L regular in the full length, and a L tall in the cropped (to make them full length on me - I hate cropped pants)
There are additional links for stripes, other patterns, etc.

I go back and forth on....ok, I"m doing something right to OMG, I'm barely scratching the surface on digital marketing.

And I'm guessing the small amount he did get was all old white dudes. I'm happy that our district flipped from a conservative rep.
I’m having a bit of burnout at work, so I looked at this weeks calendar, saw I had no meetings scheduled for Wednesday, and decided to take it off to do something fun.
I slept til 10, watered some plants, but so far, I’ve done almost nothing and have no motivation. Just sitting at the kitchen table playing on the iPad. It’s like a work day, only a different chair and I don’t have a work screen behind the iPad. I’m not sure of the point.
I was to go wander around a nursery or garden. But my favorite nursery closed (two years ago). And I don’t really know of another. Well, one, but it’s a drive and in the really pricey area, and they price their plants similarly. *sigh* And of course, I really want to move, so why am I buying plants?!

thrmp shows us that plenty of white women vote for harassers

Well, I did got out. First, to the closest location of my former favorite nursery. It still wins for landscaping. But after not buying anything, I did a drive by of a couple new house listings, and then went to this produce stand my friend sent me last year for apples. They are a greenhouse & produce market. OMG! New favorite!!
And local-ish peeps, if you haven’t been to Frank’s Produce & Greenhouse - you must! In that corner of Elkridge that should be Columbia. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

I am not, so I’ll check it out. I mean I know I am only scratching the surface of digital marketing but thought at least more of my own friends would like that post, lolz.

I am so jealous of this!
As far as I know, it is still open for folks to sign up. The only requirement to get the zoom link is to "fundraise" $100. I can send you a link to it tonight, if you want to look into it.

A car dealership in our borough has outgrown its space and is moving to a larger lot in a neighboring town. The developer who owns the lot has proposed a retail/grocery space. There is SO much opposite (like "OMG the traffic it's going to bring!!!") and a lot of "At least it's not apartments."
As a renter, it makes me not want to eventually buy a home here.
OMG, you guys. I'm freaking the fuck out. The State Department is currently working on attestation documents from JANUARY, which according to our receipt date puts us on our processing being June 20, which then puts us NOT on schedule for our work visas, because all the paperwork needs to go to the UAE embassy as well.
I have sold my house, quit my job, am uprooting my family to move across the world and now I may not have a fucking work visa. The HR person at the school was like "yeah, that's a potential issue."
I told H to call our Congressman's office like for passports. I don't know what our other options are. And let me just say in advance that yes, I know government offices are woefully understaffed and underfunded, but a THREE MONTH turnaround is beyond the pale. And if they know that, they need to be screaming that all over their website and materials.
