Some of the Covid stuff is so annoying. It’s like they’re trying to hit every single social issue that has come up and it’s very contrived. But I guess that’s kind of what Grey’s does lol.
Why do these wealthy doctors never have any nannies or any kind of professional paid help??
I MEAN COME ON
To my recollection, in 17 seasons there was exactly one scene where Meredith interviewed and hired a nanny. The nanny was never seen again. And Meredith made exactly one reference to paid help “Nanny’s sick” when she brought all three children to the hospital one day.
Hey, Amelia, you’re a neurosurgeon. I bet you can afford “Fluff ‘n Fold” service at the laundromat.
I'm watching now. Meredith woke up! That's worth mention. At least we don't have to deal with the fucking beach scenes anymore!
The scene with the mom talking to the baby over video made me cry.
She did, but it was SO anticlimactic! They didn't even really acknowledge it! I couldn't believe after all that lead-up on the beach, she might just be randomly in and out for the next few episodes until she actually recovers or dies.

To be fair we also never see the children. They keep having them, and they just keep disappearing. They’ve always just gone to sleep. I haaaaaaate it. lol

They didn’t even fucking call Amelia. Like, does she know that Meredith woke up!? I swear to god, if I hadn’t already committed half my life to this show I would quit.

The stuff that used to make this show good has been gone for so long. Like even when they killed Derek the writing was bad. Don't even get me started on the Alex episode of blurry kids on swings at the Izzy farm. I want the show to end so I can be done, been watching from day 1 so I can't quit but my God. An entire season of Meredith in a coma and she gets paid millions. A couple episodes ago Bailey's whole storyline was being asleep in a chair. Like WTF. Even when they refused to get Japril back together I was like ok, she needs to end up with Matthew to make this make sense and they did that story in like one episode. It's all just lazy writing. I miss the old Grey's. Put us out of our misery.
boxertdog, I’ve been watching since Day 1 too and this was the first episode where I actively disliked the entire episode. It was boring and I don’t care about anyone left! I kept thinking I should skip parts but I would have just skipped the entire episode! The storyline with the baby’s heart was sad, but it had so little build up compared to original Grey’s that it felt very forced. This show should have gone out years ago on a high note instead of going on forever as a pale shadow of what it used to be.
I just finished this week’s episode. The baby who has the heart surgery...where is his mom?
She's at home. I think the dad said she is suffering from depression(a combo of post partum and pandemic?) I'm assuming due to COVID restrictions only 1 parent can stay at the hospital and husband and wife decided that it was best if he was the one to stay there.

I remember the night I moved in to my "new" house, because my sister and her husband helped me. We got boxes put into the rooms they belonged in, then set up my tv and antenna so that we could watch Grey's Anatomy (she'd miss part of it if she drove home first). May 2005, when the show was new and good. I hope to move out next year, so it's a good time for the show to end!
I kind of appreciated the way this season has shown the impact that the pandemic must be having on hospital staff, but this episode was so weirdly paced and cringe filled. And I feel like they introduce characters like we are supposed to know who they are, but...we don't. lol

I thought maybe some of them were from the Station 19 crossover which I refuse to watch.

Good point. They did Deluca dirty by having half of his death episode on Station 19, because I too will not watch so the emotional impact was much less.

I think a lot of the problems are caused by the covid filming restrictions/protocols . I remember reading somewhere they were very limited on the amount of hours they could film. They don’t have the time to film lots of scenes of backstory and subplots that fully develop new reoccurring characters like the new class of interns. Plus I wonder if they are shooting scenes/episodes out of order. Maybe they are creating daily call lists with only a few actors on them and filming all their scenes together for several weeks of episodes at a time to limit the number of people on set. That might explain the weird pacing.

I forced myself to watch it because I assumed this would be the case. It WASN'T. Station 19 is garbage and they keep tricking me into watching it. I'm done!
