How have responses or protests been in other cities?
Ours haven't kicked off yet. The tiny city near me has a vigil tonight, the large city has one Friday night.
We had a small protest at the police station last night. They handcuffed the front doors closed, and after someone went in a side door and cut the plastic ties, people started to walk in. The police began pepper spraying them, claiming the 20 or so were trying to force their way in.
The mayor had already said police were not to use chemical agents against protesters after some bad protests last summer.

His funeral was today.
And this? 😭😭
The families of several other Black people killed by police were there, too, including the mothers of Philando Castile, who was shot by a police officer during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb in 2016, and Eric Garner, who was filmed saying “I can’t breathe” in a fatal 2014 encounter with New York City police.
@ Also attending were relatives of Oscar Grant, killed in 2009 by a California transit officer who mistook his service weapon for a stun gun, similar to the Wright case, and of Emmett Till, the teenager whose 1955 lynching in Mississippi helped spark the civil rights movement, as well as the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor, who was shot in her Kentucky apartment by officers serving a warrant in 2020.
Wow, that's hitting me hard @neworleans. I know the list of victims is long of course but this really brings it home. The thought of so many bereaved gathering like that, with the pain of repeated trauma and the complete lack of progress on preventing these murders... Oof. 😭😭😭
