taratru, I hope the interview went well! Glad to hear about the additional offers on the house. Any good news about your visa?
Our Congressman has an aide on the case. She filed the paperwork yesterday, the DOS responded within minutes with a request for more info...I hope that means they will be pushing it up.
sonrisa We have already resigned from our jobs, so staying here isn't an option anyway. We decided/remembered we want to leave, period. If we end up going somewhere else for a while, that's okay, too. Me a year ago would have done just what you said. We are very lucky that we have the privilege to do what we are doing.

im glad to hear it. I stand by my assessment that you are brave - for all this big leap entails
Updates all around! Our attestation paperwork is on the way back to us today in our priority mail envelope. Holy moly! I figured we'd get it in a few weeks! I'm on to the second interview for the Dean position! Yay! There are tons of showings on our house today, so I suspect we will have another whooole bunch of offers!
taratru, this is so exciting!! I selfishly was hoping things might fall through a little, and your H could take the kids and head overseas and you could go on a nestie tour of the country just crashing in our guest rooms and hanging out drinking bubbly on our back decks across the country.

Um...this still seems like a plan I would enjoy very very much.

Eeeek! We submitted our 6th offer yesterday. They actually came back to ask for proof of funds, which is the most promising anything yet. OMG we might actually get a house.
I’m also kind of “fuck!” We’ve tried so many that I figured there was no hope. H is... not in love. He said whatever makes me happy, but this doesn’t have his one ask. I’ve tried and tried and tried, but I just can’t find a walkout basement. So... I promised him the first thing we’d do is get estimated on putting in a door. And his first reaction to hearing we are in contention was to say “great, so we are over paying.”
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Congratulations erbear. The biggest suggestion I give for interviews is to go slowly, take your time (it will feel longer for you than the interviewer) and breathe. Focus on the knowledge you already have and what questions you have for the people about the Fellowship. Perhaps practice in front of a mirror. And more than anything, if you notice yourself going inward (having unhelpful thoughts), take a breath and then pull your focus to the person interviewing you. Good luck!
