I would do 2. Sounds like a fun summer and lots of family time. We decided to avoid camp because I felt like it was inevitable that there would be a Covid exposure and we’d have to quarantine for 2 weeks and I just don’t want to do it over the summer. We are doing 2 days a week with grandparents and then our college freshman neighbor is going to watch him 5ish hours a day the other 3 days.

My kid will be 10 in 10 days. This summer I signed him up for a weeklong 1/2 day outside tennis camp (masked). That's the only one I felt comfortable with. Usually he does a slew of camps through our county parks & rec, but all of the other ones are either indoors or off-site--which requires a van ride--I'm just not there yet w/ that arrangement. Other than tennis camp, we're going to spend the majority of the summer at our other property, b/c it has a pool (I'm off for 1/2 of June, all of July & the first week of August). I am trying to arrange horseback riding lessons at a stable about 30 mins from said property. I think he'll continue to do his Outschool classes too (book club, math club, meditation, video game chats).
My parents are going to come visit in June, hopefully for at least a week. They are both vaxxed, and I am too. If H is able to get appts to get vaxxed, he will join us. If not, he will stay home and work (poor H, lol).
I really hope that this coming summer is the last one that is fucked up. I just want some normalcy, damn it!
This is kind of a tough summer because my 15 year old is too old for most camps, but not old enough to drive/work (most jobs around here require you to be 16 minimum). She really wants to work and can’t wait for next summer when she’ll be eligible.
I've hired 15 year olds in the past. I am across the street from a high school so we see a steady stream of them. They've always been patients in the office first so we knew their personalities and their ethics but I would consider one who showed up with the initiative to ask.
Does she have a resume? That might help her appear more mature. There is so much stuff to do on the back end at my office, I've always appreciated the help since they were eager and good with computers. I know most of the stores around here required the kids to be 16, as one of my 15 year olds opted to go work at Kohl's once she turned 16 rather than continue with us.

I SAH and my 3 are 8, 9 (almost 10), and 12. Lots of normal offerings are still unavailable this summer. We will be gone to our family vacation home the majority of July and when we return there will be 6 days till school starts. I am signing them up for a few things in June: 2 week diving camp , 1 week outdoor sport camp, and tennis lessons for the younger 2.
This is our first year in a school system. We have to decide by next week. We are likely signing up for weekly camps through the preschool. We will probably take July off since we have PTO.
Just to update, DH and I were able to talk yesterday and we’re going with option 2. When we looked at the calendar and when she would maybe go to the FT camp, it would be 3ish weeks at the end of July/August. Also school is starting a week earlier next fall. So not really worth it for her to take a spot from another kid.
She wants to do volleyball, spy camp, and nature camp. Also wants to do art & crafts, hoping the county offers something this summer.
So I’m hoping this is a good compromise given lots is still unknown.
I'm hoping to do some specialty week long camps over the summer. DD is looking at rock climbing, gymnastics, and horse camp which are all more half day funky hour camps. Horse camp starts at 10 and ends at 4, gymnastics is 8:30-1, and rock climbing is 10-2 or they all have been in the past. So far the city rec department haven't announced dates or times yet. We are also more than likely going to be bounced back to the extreme risk category which shuts down a whole lot of stuff.
