An acquaintance emailed me that she has a client that is interested in buying my house and asked if we are interested in selling. Acquaintance has been to my house and I guess described it? We have considered it recently but aren’t making any big decisions until at least July maybe even October. So weird. I didn’t think this thing happened IRl !
Are you in a hot market? We get the ‘I have a client who would be interested in your house’ solicitations about once a year from realtors in the area. Sometimes it’ll be a paper flyer to everyone in the neighborhood. I think it’s a pretty common way to drum up business here. Is this who you’d choose to work with otherwise if you sold?
Fairly hot - houses are getting multiple offers.
It is one of 2 people I was considering working with. She’s been a board member with me for the last few years, sent us food after my mom passed and a great local realtor but IDK if she could fairly represent both parties.
One of DDs classmates regularly misses school becaxue there is no one to take her. (Divorced parents, dad won’t help with transportation if it isn’t his day and mom’s work meetings often overlap with school commute hours). Yesterday DD came home and said the child would miss Wed and Thursday of this week. I feel bad for the kid for missing so much school. So I texted her mom and offered to take her both mornings and bring her home today. Her response? ‘Can you also pick up tomorrow - I’m going to be tired after a long day of work meetings?’
Lady, you live in the opposite direction of the school from our house. It adds a half hour (per drop off/pick up) to include your kid into our school commute. I feel like my offer was already very generous but I can’t fix everything for you. (We can’t do it anyway because we have an obligation tomorrow afternoon)
I’m already regretting the offer, lol.
Wow that's ballsy. I would be grateful for the offer and leave it at that.

I don't get people.
I know! And it’s a pandemic! The kids share a table at school so we aren’t increasing our family exposure too much but I still feel this was way above and beyond to start with.
Relevant to the texting kids at school post: My son just texted me from the tail end of his study hall to say that his class just spent the whole period debating whether Wyoming is real. He has spent most of the year telling me that I wouldn't believe the stupid things his fellow 7th graders say and do. I LOL'd for real. (No flames: he was texting from study hall and it's literally the first message he has ever sent me during the school day).
ETA: Apparently this is a Thing. There is a whole subreddit debating it, and also: iswyomingreal.com/
oy! Wyoming is very real lol My brother has lived there the last 20 years in Cheyenne. His wife's family has been there since it was a territory.
I'll have to check out the subreddit .... i'm interested in why they DO NOT think WY is real
We’re going for our first camping trip this weekend, and now it’s supposed to rain Saturday and Sunday. Boo.
Dd is home on Wednesdays now, in school the other 4 days, and every Wednesday I’m like, how the fuck did I do this for months? A single day is so hard now.

Bernadine we also have plans to camp this weekend and rain is predicted Saturday. DH is all "It will be fine" and "Kids will be so disappointed if we cancel". Dude, kids will be cold and wet, not a good combo.

I feel for this girl .. the ONLY reason why dd hasn't returned to in-person school yet is over transportation issues. For her district hybrid school is 2 days a week from 1-3pm. There is no way for me to get her there and back working 30m from home. Would she benefit from those 2 hours of in-person support ABSOLUTELY !! is it messed up that her district seems to think that 1- all parents work from home and can take 60m out of their day to haul kids to/from school and 2- that every household has a stay at home parent who can just do this no big deal - yes.

When my youngest was in preschool I somehow ended up offering to pick up and drop off a classmate bc the weird midday preschool hours made it tough for his WFM mom. Both directions were on the way but I had to quit after a few weeks bc I found the job annoying. We carpool for soccer with my 14 yo's teammates and I find that equally annoying. Maybe I just don't like other people's kids. Hmm...
This reminded me of when we moved here, my dd was starting preschool, and I complained extensively to my bff that the preschool we planned to send dd (where my MIL worked) had a pickup time at the same time my ds would be getting off the bus from 1/2 day kindergarten, so I had to find a new place. I ended up sending dd to the same place where bff's kids went. And then it started, and bff realized that pickup from there was the same time as when she needed to pick up HER kindergartner! She hadn't even thought of that being an issue despite me distressing about it. She ended up asking me to wait with my dd and her ds on the school playground while she picked up her kindergartner and then drove over to the preschool. It was usually only like 10 minutes, but I would pick up ds from school first to make the timing work, then take him with me to the preschool. So I was in charge of watching dd, ds, and my bff's son on the playground. Ds's behavior was often horrendous while waiting and I hated that I couldn't enforce rules by saying 'if you misbehave, we go home' because we had to stay and wait (this was before I knew he had ADHD lol). And some days were rainy/cold and I didn't want to be outside for 10 min.! I was so surprised by how annoyed I was to do what I thought was an easy favor for a good friend!

I stayed up past midnight trying to get a CVS vaccine apt. No luck, even trying to log in through Hawaii, then my state. Tried again at 6am and again later in the morning. I tried several zip codes...nada. My friend is having better luck, but said they scrolled from 4:30 to almost 7am.
Then I was excited to get "Verity" by Colleen Hoover so quickly through the library, only to find out it's a translated German version. Womp womp.
I had a hair appointment scheduled for earlier this year, but I cancelled it when I was having all my dental work done because I didn't think it was right to get an unnecessary service when I'd been having all this unmasked dental work. Then I didn't reschedule because of my wrist surgery. But my procrastination has paid off because since they haven't seen me in so long they've sent me coupons for $20 off.

We have a woodpecker that is driving us batshit crazy. It exclusively likes to hammer just the metal chimney tops of our 3 townhouses and it sounds like a jackhammer is working on the street. This guy is up EARLY and has been at it for weeks. We've ordered some weighted owl statues instead of reflectors just because of where we have to attach it and durability and so forth. Then the question will be who is crazy and nimble enough to climb up to roofs to place these things up by the chimneys. DD is going to name them when they arrive, so far we know one is named Hooty. I'm really pushing for one to be called Blowfish, but she doesn't get it.
Also, DD is at work with me today for a little while and my H will pick her up after his meeting. By chance, a doctor's golden retriever got dropped off here by their dogsitter and she's now hanging out in an office with the dog, taking her job of watching him very seriously! He's exactly the type of dog she is gunning for so she's in heaven and I can actually get work done!

I think I can share my kindle version if you want. Or amazon was doing 2 months free of kindle unlimited and it looks like it's on there. You just have to remember to cancel before you have to pay.
I am tired of feeling tired. My right arm has not felt completely right since my EMG test last week. I started noticing this week feeling kind of thick. Not numb, because I can still feel things on it, but the sensation is dulled and the arm feels thick. This is all hard to describe. Yesterday was definitely worse and now I have that sensation sometimes on the right side of my face.
And, I have officially gained enough weight to take me up over than what I was 7 years ago. I'm just feeling blah today.
Wow that's ballsy. I would be grateful for the offer and leave it at that.

to add, the father sounds like a total dick. This is not about you and your bitter feelings regarding your marriage, but about your kid. Help the fuck out.
And yes, the lady is ballsy as hell. Is there no one near her that she can work out a carpooling situation with to help out?
There is a Cardinal nest right outside of my back window. After an unfortunate incident last year where I accidentally killed a nest full of eggs, I'm excited to watch these babies hatch from a distance. We happen to have an extra Blink Camera so I'm trying to convince H to install it so I can watch the nest more easily. Mama bird flies away whenever I get too close, but my dogs have been sitting in front of the window watching her and she doesn't even get phased.
I'm thinking of ordering some bikinis. I do not have a bikini body, but we have a pool, and I hate trying to squeeze my fat self in to a one piece. I have a bunch in my cart but haven't been able to pull the trigger.
Get the bikinis. A bikini body is just a body wearing a bikini.
I’m fat as can be and just finished trying on some new bikinis for summer. I looked amazing. There’s no size/shape requirement. Do what you want.
2nd Moderna shot is in the arm. Now we wait, and hope for no bad side effects. We already have haircuts scheduled for 5/5. My husband's hair is longer than I've seen it in 25 years together.
We are hiring, and it seems like all the applicants want to schedule their initial phone interviews outside of business hours. I understand that most of them have to work around their current jobs, but they can't squeeze a phone interview in sometime during the day? I never had that problem when I was looking for work, and it wouldn't occur to me to inconvenience my interviewer by asking for an after-hours phone interview. I can't decide if I'm irrationally annoyed or just annoyed. Either way, I'm annoyed, so I guess it doesn't make a difference.
@peep, when we're interviewing we give applicants a variety of days/times to pick from. None of which ever include outside of our normal business hours. I personally wouldn't even consider requesting it for myself either.

I got my second Pfizer today and today is DH's two week mark for Moderna! I've been cutting his hair and DS's hair and I'm pretty good at it, LOL. I've been cutting my own too and getting not bad at that either. I definitely want highlights and Botox but I might just keep the hair duties.
bex1973 . My 3 were virtual this year until this last quarter and 2 of the 3 really wanted to go back to school. Now even they are just ready for it to be over. It's a lot for everyone.
I do have to commend DS2's teacher. When we returned to in person my other 2 kept the teachers they had virtually, but DS2 got a new one. This year has seen shortages in subs and bus drivers. DS2's teacher, who has been teaching 30 plus years, started driving a bus to help fill the void. He drives the bus, teaches a full day, and gets on that bus again in the afternoon. He has now organized a bike ride for the entire grade. He is going to put in a full day, get off that bus and lead x number of 4th graders on a 5 mile bike ride to a park to play. He also is a musician and keeps a guitar in the classroom and if kids are having a rough time he plays a song. Each AM before snack he takes the class on a walk outside around the school. So thankful for him and I really hope DD gets in his class in 2 years.
One of the members of the team I support at my school does this. It is supremely awesome--I've never encountered it in 27 years of being in the business and I seriously love it.
I am so fucking exhausted. I worked 60 hours last week and am on track to do the same this week. And I have this asshole coordinator who basically told me this morning that I’m not providing him with enough support. I am very much looking forward to telling him off (professionally) tomorrow because you are not fucking saying shit like that the me. Fuck you.

I feel for this girl .. .
I do too. In this case, it’s almost full time and 5 days a week. Drop off is 20 minutes later than usual and pick up is 5minutes earlier than regular years. You can’t walk them to the gate so many parents just use the regular schedule and kids loiter. I think she’d miss half the week even in normal times.

starburst604 Our neighborhood stop sign pecking woodpecker is back this spring, too. It's not on our house, so it doesn't bother me, but DH finds it really annoying.
