I have it set-up well with a good amount of space for hanging clothes and baskets for everything else (per the style of Marie Kondo - not as nice as she does it). My problem is that I don’t actually USE OR WEAR 1/2 the clothes I have in my closet. It’s so frustrating.
We have a small walk in that my H has one side and I have the other so it's prob about equal to what you have. I have a small pull out drawer container inside the closet it's prob like 6inx6in and then has 4 drawers down. If that makes sense? It's from homegoods I see them all the time there. It has my underwear, socks, sports bras, and regular bras all in their own compartment. Hanging above that is tank tops, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, hoodies, rash guards, and then dresses towards the back. We have a tall dresser in our bedroom and I get two drawers lol. One drawer has workout pants and tops, pants, and shorts. The bottom drawer has pajamas. I don't have a ton of clothes though to be honest. I also don't have to dress professionally and have a separate wardrobe for that which helps.
This made me feel better I have limited clothing storage and no fancy system, but everything has a place and I can find it easily. Now the actual contents could use a major post pandemic overhaul, but that is a different matter.
Yes, but that's because I paid someone to organize it. And then I almost never go in there.* Everything I wear on a regular basis fits into my dresser.
*That's because I live a scrub life at the moment. Pre-kids when I was skinnier and fancier, I used to go into my closet all the time.
We really don’t have closets in our house. We have a small bedroom and we use it as a “closet” with rolling garment racks. We basically hang everything up.
We did the exact same thing, and I am spoiled for life lol! We each got 2 nice garment rack/shelf combo units from ikea, and in the middle of the room we have 2 dressers back to back. The tops of the dressers are used for folding laundry & my jewelry.
That sounds nice! An added bonus to this set up is that we no long have room for my in-laws to stay overnight lol

I considered this! I posted awhile ago about my "reading room" that is adjacent to my bedroom. I could have moved my bedroom into my RR and used my current, much smaller bedroom, as a closet. I don't regret my decision, but now I do need to intentionally organize better.
As a mini update, I cleared three drawers from my bed storage and will move seasonal clothes there, which should free up some space.
I've meticulously designed my last two closets from easyclosets.com to fit my belongings. Having a nice looking closet with everything in its spot helps reduce anxiety for me. :-)
For me, your t-shirts in the hanging organizer and the sweaters on the shelf would be chaos. I can't do folded things stacked on top of each other - jeans are the exception, probably because due to the material they don't slide around. My folded things need to be Marie Kondo-style folded in drawers or bins/baskets (like this). I don't know how your workout clothes are organized in the bins, but mine are in drawers folded like the picture, one drawer for leggings/shorts and one drawer for tops.
Coordinating bins will make things look more cohesive too. I just switch out some see-through plastic bins for prettier fabric boxes, and even though the functionality is the same, it looks a lot "calmer" now.
You basically described my mess. LOL. I have too many sweaters that are folded and stacked. Jeans -- too many pairs, because I recently lost weight and in search of "the perfect" pair. Then pants are folded and stacked, too.
My workout clothes are in stacked bins with a lip and an open front. So I wear something (often workout 2 x per day so they get a lot of use), wash and fold it, and it gets put right back in front.
I am definitely going to play with my under-bed storage this weekend. It's easy to get to and will open up a lot of space.
Haha, I thought I might have! I think a combo of purging stuff you no longer wear and using bins/boxes as "drawers" both in the hanging organizer and under the bed will really help. Please post pictures if you get stuck and need help - I am very pregnant and very much nesting and running out of places to organize in my own home

We have a small walk in. It was like this: Dh’s side is a disaster. My side is organized. Dresses. Then pants. Then long sleeved shirts in color order. Then short sleeve shirts in color order. Then tank tops. My sweaters are nicely folded.
And currently everything is emptied out into our bedroom and guest room because we ripped out the wire shelves and painted the closet and soon someone is coming to out on new shelving and hanging sections. I am so so excited.
