Anyone watching? We only watched the first episode so far, and it’s been a while since I read the books. We might give it another episode or two but weren’t sold yet. Did the books talk about Alina being half-Shu? I don’t remember that.

I didn't know this was a book series! Makes sense though. H started watching it last night and I half paid attention. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. H said he didn't know much better and he was actually watching, haha. I'll have to look into the books!

I haven't read the books, but got through 5 episodes this weekend. I will probably read them now.
For those that have read the books, does this season follow the first book? There seem to be a lot of storylines, and I'm wondering if they're pulling from the series as a whole.
They’re combining two series, the Shadow and Bone books and the Six of Crows series. I don’t think it follows Six of Crows very closely at all. From just the one episode I watched, it seemed reasonably close to Shadow and Bone.

Thanks. The crows (Kaz et al?) are more interesting so far.

No, they changed it for the actress. If you Google the author talks about changing some things so the cast could be more diverse and representative.

I haven’t watched the show and don’t think I will. I really love all of the Grisha books & I think the show will just disappoint me & possibly piss me off, lol. I definitely think the converging stories will be confusing if not done right.

I am liking the show! They basically made up a storyline for the Crows this season that doesn’t exist in the books, but I’m hoping they are setting up the characters for the actual Six of Crows book storyline next season, perhaps.
I love the casting for Alina, Darkling, and Kaz. Kaz is one of my favorite fictional characters, and seeing him come to life so exactly as I imagined him is thrilling. My H is watching with me, hasn’t read the books, and is generally very confused. But if you like the books, I think you’d like the show.
