My 40th birthday is in two weeks and my parents and sister want to get me something "big." I'm guessing like $300 price point? I am very lucky and can't think of anything I need/want. I'm not a fancy purse person. Any ideas?
Also, I'm soon going to be watching lots of outdoor sports tournaments. I'm thinking of getting a new sun hat - I don't think my floppy beach one will work, and baseball caps don't offer much sun coverage. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a hat, or for a good chair? I considered getting a pop up tent when we were watching more soccer games, but I don't think that will work as well for softball. Thanks for any tips!

sdlaura, do you need wireless new ear buds or headphones? What about a nice piece of jewelry?
I need recommendations for an exercise mask. I currently have an Under Armour mask that I feel like I can breathe better in than a regular one from Target. But it's heavy and hot.
I would also love to find boot leg yoga pants with a cell phone pocket. I love the boot leg Ideology yoga pants from Macys but they don't have a cell phone pocket. I'm not sure if this is even a thing.
I want to get beau a grill for his birthday. He loves grilling and talks about wanting to get one, but he doesn't want to spend the money. Right now he uses a tiny camping grill propped up on an outdoor table that was from his apartment. I've been considering a Blackstone griddle style, but anyone have any other recommendations?
supertrooper1, I love the Oalka brand leggings with pockets on Amazon. Not sure if they make a bootcut style, but the regular leggings style are awesome! Colors and sizes randomly go on sale, so I always grab some when they drop in price.

twinmomma, I love my Traeger! They're spendy, like I paid $1,000 for mine, but I think it's worth it. The only downside is that sometimes I wish I had a regular gas grill, but he could still use his camping grill for those tasks. If you end up buying a Blackstone, let me know how you like it. That's what I'm planning to buy Beau after he saw them on TikTok.
supertrooper1, I do have the apple airpods, so all set there. Jewelry didn't come to mind I think because I've gone so few places this past year, but maybe I should look around for some stud/everyday earrings that are nicer than the Target ones I normally buy. That's a good idea.
For face masks, both the kids and I really like the Old Navy active masks. They're easy to breathe in.
sdlaura , I'm pretty sure you need a nice spa day. Massage, facial, the works. Plus an entire afternoon where you're forced to relax and not hear a single "Mooooooooooom?" the whole day. Golden.

YESSSSSSSSSSS! I was coming in here to suggest the same thing.
sdlaura, I have the Muryobao Women's Outdoor UV Protection Foldable Mesh Wide Brim Beach Fishing Hat. It’s on Amazon. I like it because it has a ponytail hole. I used it when we went to Hilton Head and were on boats, so I was worried it could fly off. Also, you can roll or fold it and throw it in your bag.
supertrooper1, I got beau a Blackstone! And when I revealed it to him he tried really hard to be nice but tell me it wasn't the kind he wants. Poor guy didn't want to turn down such an expensive gift, but really wants just a normal gas grill. So we're returning that this weekend and he's picking out what he actually wants.
I really wish we had a normal gas grill.. DH has some fancy dancy smoker which means I don't ever grill anything now. I don't know the first thing about how his works.
I agree with the spa suggestion. That is what I did for my 40th, albeit I traveled to a different state for it too, lol. Or I would ask for a fancy dinner - tasting menu with wine flight at the best place near you. That’s what we do for big milestones. Eat the cash or have an “experience.”
Thank you for all of the ideas! Having people ask me what I want for my milestone birthday this year has made me realize how little I need/want.
Ultimately my sister decided to get me some inexpensive earrings I like, and my parents gave me cash. I'm going away with 3 girlfriends tomorrow night and Friday night to a wine region, and we have massages and fancy dinners planned. So I can use the cash for those. Though DH says I should just spend it on wine to bring home
I'm resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has any recommendations for kids life jackets?
We plan to swim in a river this weekend. DS2 has a puddle jumper for pools, and I'm sure we'll be holding the baby the whole time, but I think my older kids should probably wear life jackets. DD is almost 9 and DS1 is 7.5.
sdlaura , I love the ones we have from Costco. We bought them for all 4 of us, and they are great. The kids splash around in the lake wearing them, and they are great. They are hyperlite brand, here is a link to one, but we got them there for all of us: www.costco.com/.product.100660242.html
At that age I was able to find life jackets at Target. They lasted but weren’t used heavily - usually just once or twice a year for camping - boating and kayaking.
Thanks all! I had seen the target ones but wasn’t sure If they were any good. I’m more concerned about them being comfortable enough for the kids not to complain about wearing them vs them lasting forever. I’m also passing Costco today so that’s a great idea too.

I also bought DS one from Costco. It worked great last weekend. I do think they run a bit small. He's 70 pounds and it says it's rated up to 88 pounds and it was almost too tight.
