My whole house is sick. DD2 has an ear infection. DD1 caught her cold I think, so we are heading to urgent care shortly for a COVID test. Also getting a strep test since she had strep recently and sometimes the abx doesnt knock it out.
DH has the same cold that the kids have.
I am getting their cold, but I’m also about 18 hours past my 2nd Moderna shot so I feel a bit like I’ve been run over by a truck.
Looking on the bright side, we get a night off from activities. Yay!
I was really sick on Friday but had a big presentation in front of “the Three Kings” of our company, as they’re affectionately called. It was my 90 day review of where our program is. It went really well, and then I basically collapsed and slept for 17 hours.
MIL got the same illness the rest of us got. She said other than being run down and needing a lot of tissues, she didn’t feel too bad. DH is holding on. He’s a little under the weather but not too bad.
In other news, I’m traveling tomorrow for the first time in 15 months. But I got upgraded to first class on my flight, so yay!

Idk what happened but I got overexcited and way overcommitted the weekend. Saturday DD1 and I volunteered at a river cleanup event, the girls had ice skating lessons, DD2 had a park cleanup. Sunday we impulsively drove a solid 2 hours each way to visit H’s family at the beach. We got home at 11pm. Thank god for teacher workdays.
H is upset with me because I chased DD2’s float all the way to the buoy line. I didn’t mean to! It kept being 20 feet away and then someone shouted the sand bar was close (warning 1: when drunk 20-somethings are shouting encouragement at you), then I was like “a little burst of power Library and you’ll have that damn float” and I think I swam right over the sand bar. Then I treaded water for a minute, saw the tiny pissed off version of my H on the shore and all the boats and the float STILL 20 feet away, and remembered how long it’s been since I’ve done any open water swimming, gave up, rolled over and back stroked the looooong way to shore. When I got there I was greeted with a yelling spouse “are you trying to drown over a dollar store innertube?!” Aaaand, though I maintain that I have common sense and quit while I was ahead, that was my Florida Woman moment for the decade.
Eta: a amused-slightly-concerned boat owner returned the tube. “I thought maybe I was going to have to come pick you up.” Yup, that was embarrassing.
The girls' birthday party is on Saturday. I looked at the weather forecast for the week and there is one day that is due to have rain. Which day? Saturday, of course. We have a damn petting zoo scheduled to come. If it rains, I'm going to have a tiny living room crammed full of rabbits, skunks, lizards, snakes, and half a dozen kids and their parents. This was supposed to be an easy, outdoor, covid-friendly party. I really hope the forecast changes. I also feel like I have a list a mile long of prep work to do before Saturday and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to pull it off. Happy Monday!

twinmomma , does your neighborhood have a club house by chance? That's probably what I would do if I were in your shoes.
Saturday DD had a playdate and DS and DH went to the bikeathon. Despite still being on training wheels DS rode 6 miles of the 8 that was the bikeathon. I was pretty impressed. Luckily it was an out and back so he was able to just turn around. Also, can I add how great our school is. Several of DS' classmates were there and his teacher and no one said anything to him about his training wheels. We will continue working on getting him off them though because he's really old to still be using them of course.
Saturday afternoon we had a dog training refresher. DH and I had a really good time with our dog. DH has been kind of an a$$ lately about the dog but weirdly you could tell how proud he was of the dog and he managed her himself most of the time so that was really nice. We also got some tips about walking her on the leash. Basically I'm not good at it but it's getting better. Since it was just DH and I, I would have liked to take the dog and go to a nice outdoor brewery for drinks but....the dog would not be able to cope with that so we didn't.
Sunday it rained so we all stayed in. I cleaned a little and did laundry. DS had a friend over and we all just chilled. A very nice weekend.
ETA: Oh and also I did my "long run" in my 10K training plan that I'm doing before I start the half marathon training plan. 3 miles! Feels a little short since I was doing so much longer pre pandemic but whatever the distance I felt good to do it.
mustardseed2007, nope, we don't have neighborhoods like that with facilities around here. I might just put a couple 10x10 pop ups in the yard if I have to.

We had a great weekend. The weather was great and we got a lot of gardening done and basically spent the entire weekend outside.
I was kind of feeling bleh about Monday, but that all turned around when DS gave me the "Mother of the Year" interview booklet he did at school. It was supposed to be for Mother's day, but he forgot to give it to me. Some of the stuff he wrote made me so proud. I'm going to gloat here.
Your mom's character traits: kind, strict, determined, funny Your mom's favourite saying - be kind to everyone Lesson she taught me - to be kind What was the best advice your mom has given you? - to do the hard things first What was the best gift your mom has given you that was no wrapped in a box? - love
We work on kindness a lot as DS is not naturally empathetic, it's so heart-warming to know that it's sinking through, at least on some level. Hey, at least it shows we are trying!

The weather was great and I spent most of it outside. Saturday, Beau had to do some upkeep on his fence since a couple of his dogs figured out how to climb over the fence. I wasn't much help but it was nice to relax outside. Sunday we went on an almost 30 mile trail ride with his son and a couple of his son's friends. I had a shaky start when I tipped over when my boot caught on my foot peg and freaking out a bit going down a steep hill, but the rest of the day went well and I felt good after the ride.

We had a busy weekend with soccer, ds2s bffs bday party and ds1s race. But the pool and hot tub at the hotel were open and it was soooo nice for our fully vaccinated selves to sit in a hot tub and relax for 15 minutes after a busy day. DS1 had a great race and showed a lot of maturity and won his class. Of course being outside all weekend means I’m sniffling and itchy today, even with Claritin but it was a good weekend. Now I have to motivate myself to get work done. I just want to have a chill week and instead I’m having to prod everyone along.
We had a nice weekend.. DS had his birthday party, which turned out pretty nice. This was the closest thing to a real party that we've had in 15 months, and I'm really enjoying the reduced guest list. For the first time, I had him tell me who *he* wanted to come, and I didn't prompt him for people I'd thought he missed or that he "should" invite.
DH had his 2nd vaccine yesterday at the butt crack of dawn, and then had a volleyball game, so it was mostly me and the kids, and I spent most of the afternoon chilling in the backyard on my new patio furniture - reading and pretending not to hear DS crying over every little thing because he was overtired.
I started my Monday off with notification that I'm losing an existing client that I like, so womp womp.
I'm exhausted, I haven't slept in days. Travel Covid test today at 4.
I got the letter from the hospital for the emergency passport. I just need to have it translated and notarized. Emergency passport appointment tomorrow Fly out Wednesday Possible return Friday with dad They think he had a stroke.
Our state just lifted mask restrictions for outdoor sports! For the first time in a year, DD2 can play soccer without a mask!!! And spectators don’t have to wear them either! YAAYYY! And I’m anticipating a ton of colds coming our way!!!
Its tax day and oh my god all the crazies. I'm looking at maybe leaving by 7 tonight.
DD did 2 unassisted tumbling passes Saturday! We were supposed to have a private tonight but when we schedule the floor is fully booked so we rescheduled to Wednesday. For the head coach to then email us changing practice nights this week. Now the private is schedule at 8am Thursday morning. DD will be late to zoom class but I just don't care anymore.
Sunday we tore all the weeds and grass out of this giant flower box 6ft wide by a good 20ft long. Then went and got 2 yards of river rock which was caked in dirt so we washed rock before putting it down over the landscape fabric. It looks amazing but we are all sore today and both DD's and my allergies are kicking butt. I gave her Benadryl this morning to help and it knocked her out. She was asleep at her computer and I let her sleep until she woke up and then had her log in 30 minutes late (did message her teacher with a heads up). We both take Zyrtec at night but when the pollen count is too high it doesn't help.
waverly I'm sorry - good luck to you. I can't imagine.
Friday I did dugout duty at DS1's baseball game, and then we took my parents to dinner while we had a babysitter. It was nice to talk to them without the kids running around.
Saturday was DS3's 1st birthday. A year flew by! As the fourth child, he got to celebrate by attending a softball game for DD and a birthday party for a 7-year-old friend of DS1's. Sunday we celebrated again with our family friends, and one of DH's business school friends was in town with her family from the bay area and they came by, too.
Today started with a bang - both little boys were up by 5:30 am. Ugh. Then the baby had his one year doctor appointment, including 3 shots. I dropped off an unhappy baby that was late for his morning nap to his daycare provider. Thursday I'm meeting 3 girlfriends a few hours away for a 2-night girls trip in a wine area to celebrate our birthdays (all four of us have birthdays between 5/9 and 5/24, and two of us are turning 40), and one of the girls' little boys now has croup. I'm hoping he feels better soon and she can still come.
Being in charge of my mom's recovery continues this week. My brother stayed with her last night. When I arrived at 9:15, after my 40 minute drive, he was asleep. He got her water and ice, listened to his weekly sales call and went back to bed. Until NOON! I tried (key word) to work and got our mom meds, breakfast and coffee, ice, and helped her reposition on the couch. After he woke from his slumber, he went an ran an errand for himself and one for her since he was out. My mom wasn't following my instructions for getting her pain meds refilled and ended up being the type of person she bitches about. I would have done it for her, but I made 4 calls and left 3 messages yesterday so all she had to do was follow up on one of the messages. THEN my brother started talking to me about something to do with a friend that I shared with my mom in confidence, so that was nice. I realize she's on pain killers and if I didn't want it shared I shouldn't have said anything, but damnit. She's always been that person for me and now I'm wondering what else she has shared. 3 more days.
I start taking anxiety meds tonight. Hopefully those will make me less bitchy.
erinshelley21 - I’ve been thinking of you - this is so hard. She will be better soon and she will be grateful for your help. I know you’re running yourself ragged, but it sounds like there might be an end in sight...
This is so minor compared to what some of you are dealing with but I found out today that I didn't get a fellowship that I was a finalist for. They take 12 teachers nationwide so it was a long shot but I let myself get excited and now I'm disappointed.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Thank you mae0111. I've hopefully convinced her to come stay at my house this weekend. I get the second Pfizer dose so I am expecting to feel shitty and told her it would be easier to take care of her while feeling bad at my own house. Plus we have a bday party for one of my brother's kids over the weekend so she will want to be at that and he loves 1 mile from me. Being here has never made more sense than it will this weekend.
If she doesn't come up here, I'm half tempted to tell her to call a friend.
waverly, I'm so sorry! Good luck with everything. It seems like you and your dad aren't especially close from what you've said here, so it's admirable that you're taking on such a huge job!

erbear, I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like becoming a finalist is a really big deal so I hope you feel really good about that at least! That speaks really well to your awesomeness.
waverly, all the luck to you, it sounds like a nightmare but it also sounds like you're handling it like a boss.
waverly, good luck and I really hope your dad doesn't give you any grief and just gets on a plane back to the US with you. Do you have plans for him once he is here? erinshelley21, call your mom's friend for help this weekend. My 2nd shot didn't hit me super hard but it still hit me hard enough I didn't want to care for anyone more than I had to. Is your DH off this weekend to help? erbear, congratulations on being a finalist. I'm sorry you didn't win but being a finalist has to make you feel good too.
We had a nice weekend which started with my nephew getting married on Friday. It was so nice to see some aunts and uncles that I haven't seen in awhile. Saturday morning was soccer for DS1. Then we crashed for the rest of the day. On Sunday, I took the kids to my parents' place to visit with my aunt and uncle who ate in town. Today I am working the election polls for my state's primary. It is a long day - 6am - 9pm. I can't wait to go home and crash.

186momx DH is off Friday and Saturday, so I will have help. There's no way my mom would approve of her friend coming to stay with her for 2 nights. I'm going to have to power through anyways. DD has a teeball game Saturday morning and I can't imagine the other coach being able to handle helping the kids bat. DH could probably handle it, but it would be comical.
