DH and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this July. I started thinking about our 10 year marriage/20 year together anniversary trip last year and then COVID hit. I was thinking about St. Lucia and staying at two resorts (one spa like in jungle and one beach) to get different experiences. I put it out of my mind as the pandemic unfolded. Now that things are looking up I wanted to go again BUT DH has not renewed his passport and so we may have to stay in the U.S. plus I also feel weird planning a trip abroad as things are not completely back to normal. My alternative was to stay at the Ahwahnee in Yosemite for a few days. DH and I got together in Yosemite 20 years ago. I am looking for other suggestions as well. What I want the trip to be: romantic but also very relaxing- we worked incredibly hard this pandemic year. We both really like cities with a lot of culture and history, warm weather, beaches, food & wine. We can take off 14 days. Please help me gather some exciting ideas. DH can only come up with camping and while I love camping this sounds just blah to me for this occasion. Any help would be super appreciated!
How about Hawaii? The culture in Hawaii is beautiful, good beaches and good food, you can absolutely relax and be romantic, but also still do fun things like hikes/outdoorsy activities. And while it’s not the first place you’d think of when you think of US history, Hawaii has a lot of beautiful and interesting historical places to check out! And with 14 days, you have plenty of time where you could go to a couple of different islands if you wanted, and to fit in every aspect of the trip that you’re looking for.
Also, Happy Anniversary! Our 10th is in 2 weeks and we scrapped our Australia trip. Oh, Covid....
Booked a 5 day trip to Seattle in a 5 star hotel with spa and will venture out to St. Lucia later! I have never been to Seattle and love city trips and am very excited about the food and wine scene. Kauai was also an idea we had BUT the rental car shortage made us decide to wait on that as well.
DH and I did a great anniversary trip to Santa Fe one year. We stayed at a great resort with pool/spa etc, plus lots of hiking/areas to explore and incredible food.
Hawaii is our favorite place. We are going in august and a lot of places are already booked (restaurants etc) while we are there due to reduced capacities etc. So just something to keep in mind.
turbo Thank you so much! You mention several restaurants that I jotted down after doing some research. It is so nice to hear from someone who tried them!!! I am sorry to hear about the homeless problem. We def wanted to visit and perhaps do the tour at Pike's Market. I also had a museum day in mind. I saw several museums I like, the chihuly museum was one of them.
We are staying at Hotel Lotte. A new hotel (Korean concept) with a spa.
Yes, keep the recs coming I love to hear from a local about what is good!
