Well! It was a bit busy.
DD had a class playdate at a park. Her BFF broke her nose during it and had to go to urgent care. They had brought their dog so I was dog sitting for a short while during their urgent care visit. That was followed by each kid having a birthday party to go to. It was the first time I got a chance to sit down with almost all the parents from DS' class since 2020 and I just loved that. Then DD had a playdate with a friend in masks. I think it was the first playdate that little girl had been able to have so I was really glad we got to do it. I also went to a local pub to celebrate my sister's birthday, which was also really fun.
Yesterday our school, which is very covid cautious, stated that for the last week of school they will allow the kids to go mask free outside. I feel like it's a pretty decent incremental step to close out the year and even though I'm covid cautious I'm on board with it.
It was a busy weekend for sure. Friday was the May Crowning at DDs' school. DD2 wore her First Communion dress and her class participated in the ceremony. It was a 1/2 day, so kids changed in the car and we met friends for lunch and playing at the playground.
Saturday and Sunday DD2 had a soccer tournament. It was 47 degrees and raining. She did great, the team did well, and she enjoyed herself despite the terrible weather. DD1 kind of hung around the neighborhood.
Monday I'd planned to just get through all of the muddy laundry and start organizing things for DD1's camp. But I ended up driving dd2 to a friend's house (and picking her up, and hour round trip each way) and DD1 had softball practice, so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked.
Short week and the kids have another 1/2 day tomorrow, so I'm definitely feeling the pressure about camp prep...
It was a nice, long weekend. Although I wish I could've enjoyed the silence a bit more this morning (after DH went to work, & kids to school), but of course I had to get to work as well.
Saturday I took DD to the mall so she could spend her A.E. gift card from her b-day, ouch that store is $$! She easily spent the gift card & then some of my $$ too. haha. DH took DS to get a much-needed haircut & they went to the pool. We made tacos Saturday for dinner. Sunday DH had to work, so I took the kids to my moms for the day/night. We had a good visit, but it always wears me out for sure.
I had the audacity to turn left on Friday and in doing so completely threw my back out. I've.. never hurt my back like this before. It was starting to feel a smidge better yesterday, but I managed to hurt it again. I'm really miserable. I've tried pain killers, deep blue rub, ice, and heat and.. nada.
I'm in the office today and hoping that standing and being on the wobble board helps just because it will keep me moving in a gentle way.

It was a great weekend and I'm sad to be back at work. I took Friday off and Beau and I hauled our trailer up a mountain to start our first camping trip together. I had to go back down the mountain Friday afternoon to drop DS off at his dad's and then went back for a few minutes of quiet until his cousins joined us for the weekend. I really like his cousins, but the wife is so loud. When they left on Monday morning, we both commented on how quiet it was. The weather was beautiful and we got in a lot of good dirt bike riding. I did really well keeping up with everyone and only had one minor injury where I dropped my handlebar on my foot and bruised the top of my toes. It wasn't even a riding mistake, it was just from losing my balance trying to turn around on a trail.
I wasn't sure how I would like camping since I hadn't trailer camped since high school and tent camped once about 18 years ago. We were able to take showers which is my hang up, so I really enjoyed it. We didn't have cell service so it was nice to disconnect. Our only issue was the trailer we bought used is a 1999 version and is starting to have issues. The bunk bed was the main bed and we didn't like having to climb up a rickety ladder and not have room to sit up in bed. So now we're thinking about buying a new trailer but don't want to spend the money.
Weekend was good. We hiked Black Butte on Friday which I figured would have switchbacks so not horrible. No it was a 1500ft elevation gain and we started at 5000ft and it was straight up. DD made it to the top! The dog and I crapped out about 1/2 mile to the top but we had amazing views still. My calves and hips are still killing me. I had baseball sized knots in my calves and they are now down to golf balls but oh do I hurt. Tried paddling on Sunday but we had some gear snafu and the lake we went to was crazy busy and not suitable for SUP or kayaking.
As we drove back home we could see the yellow fog banks of pollen from the grass. I'm miserable and can't stop blowing my sunburnt nose. My right eye is half matted close and all I want to do is go to sleep but I have a ton of work to do today.
It was a busy weekend here too! Saturday's visit with my folks was great - we sat around the campfire with my cousins and aunt and uncle. Always a good time. Brunch with my college friends on Sunday was perfect. It was so good to HUG everyone! It definitely made us all a little teary to give big hugs with everything that's been going on in our lives.
Yesterday beau and I had the day off together. We ran some errands for the restaurant and went out to eat at an amazing hot pot place while we were down in the city. On our way home we checked out a new beer garden that's opened up. And last night I convinced him to watch Hamilton with me! I'm a huge theater person and he wanted to know more about what I love, but was reluctant because he pictures musicals as old school stuff like Les Mis or Phantom of the Opera. I knew he'd really appreciate the talent and the music and I wasn't wrong. He was blown away and downloaded the soundtrack to listen to on his commute today.
One huge piece of news - he got an email over the weekend that they were approved for the restaurant relief money! He doesn't know how much yet and refuses to plan on the money until it hits the bank account. But I think this week he should get that pay out! It will be life changing for the business. He was near tears when he called to tell me he got the email.
We had a great weekend! My little sister and her family all came in town for the long weekend, and we all stayed at my older sisters home. I love nothing more than when all of us and our kids are all together!!
And Saturday, my two cousins, their husbands, their kids, and my aunt all came over. It was the first time we all got to be together since COVID, and it was soooo good! Ugh, just exactly what we all needed.
Sunday, DD2 and my niece got baptized at church, which was just so sweet and special.
And then we all just spent the rest of the weekend at my sisters. Bon fires, swimming, golf cart rides, games, cooking out, and lots and lots of junk food and snacks. Best family weekend in a year and a half and I soaked it all in!
It was mostly rainy but still productive. We had one nice day, so the kids swam and played. Sunday I took DD shopping for sandals. My 8 year old wears size 6 or 7 women’s sandals. And 7 1/2 Nike sneakers. She has some big feet! Then yesterday I finally took her to pick out new frames and order new glasses. It only took us a month since she saw the eye doctor. We couldn’t decide between two pairs, and our insurance was having a 50% off a second pair thing, so we got two pairs. She’s excited. She looked so adorable in them.
I just introduced myself on the phone with my maiden name, but then proceeded to give my actual last name when registering for the information I was requesting. That hasn't been my last name for twelve years. So, the Monday brain is going strong on this Tuesday. WTF?! LOL
mommyatty, I'll take some of your rain here in the PNW. I'm hoping the gym turns the AC on today. It is suppose to be close to 98 and won't even start to cool off into the upper 70s until 11pm tonight.
I have 3 different clients call today to make adjustments on payroll they did last week. I hate it when clients try and estimate multiple days ahead of time and then the employee pulls a no show and quits. I really dislike having to redo/fix payroll. Ugh.

We had a pretty good weekend. DH worked Saturday, so the kids and I went out to lunch and ice cream. Sunday we had a picnic with my mom at a park. I think she appreciated getting out of the house for a while. It was also fun to watch DD play with other kids and see if she is shy or outgoing around other kids. We haven't had the opportunity to do that since she's been in school so it was cute to see her make a new BFF that she will likely never see again lol. On the way home we picked up some cabinets that MIL was getting rid of. I spent most of Monday rearranging out mudroom area for the 18th time in 18 months. Fingers crossed my kids and husband use the systems I've put in place.
I managed to have a full day of work. Even quoted and sold a new policy within an hour and that just doesn't ever happen. I have several prospects that are wrapping up so I'm hoping June turns out to be a decent month. May was slow but I really shouldn't have expected much. After work I took the kids out to get DS a new bike and DD a life jacket. Her puddle jumper was too small and we are going to a water park next weekend plus also talking about buying a boat, so it was needed. It's been a full day and it's no wonder I'm exhausted.
We had a softball tournament for DD'S team all three days. The amazing thing was I actually liked it. I even hired a babysitter Monday afternoon to stay with the napping little boys so DH and I and my parents could all go to the game. I used to be the parent that tried to get out of all the sports stuff, but I really like watching the team play, and I really like the other parents. The coach had a pool party Saturday afternoon and it was fun to get to know everyone better. What has happened to me?!
Otherwise, we went on sushi date night Friday night (and then to Dicks to buy more softball stuff , and then our 12th anniversary was Sunday and we went out to dinner that night with our pod couple friends.
The kids have a 1/2 day tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be nice, so I told them they could each invite a friend. DD2 chose a friend - a new girl so I haven’t met her parents. Parents worked it out, kid is coming over.
DD1 went through almost her whole class. They’re all busy. They’ve all been busy all year. They have not been social distancing. DD1 just hasn’t figured out that she’s been blackballed.
So it came out that the girls make fun of her a lot. It’s possible she didn’t know they were making fun of her all year, and that she somehow figured it out.
I hate that she struggles so much with this stuff. I hate that the awful kid had such an impact on her way out.
And I’m so, so angry with myself for not pushing harder for her to get through the application to another school. I just wanted her to be exposed to other kids, and to go someplace that could help her figure out the best way to learn as a kid with ADHD/NVLD. But there was so much fighting and I gave up.
mae0111 I'm sorry about that situation with your DD. It's really hard for me to deal with my kids being left out or bullied, even though I know it's a reality of childhood/teen years. I think in the long-term, often the kids who had to deal with challenges like that turn into the most resilient and interesting adults. DH and I and most of our friends weren't the popular kids growing up. But I'm sure it's a hard situation to be in right now. It seems like your DD has lots of other interaction with kids through sports outside of school - I hope she can make friends through those! I think you are doing a great job - don't beat yourself up for not pushing the other school.
