Getting up at 4 am to look through the entire house for someone playing a video game is totally nuts but then when you came back and told me it was only the birds singing? That’s when you tell yourself it’s a weird dream and stay in bed. Stop making up drama that doesn’t exist. ETA- We don't have a video game console and the kids can't access our iPads or phones because they are password protected. So the only place for people to play video games is school chromebooks in the basement which we would never hear, or I think there are a couple of games on our Roku TV. So this makes the scenario even more unlikely.

I have to drive 2 hours to be a witness in a court room proceeding today. I'm being introduced as a corporate rep but I'm also arguably a fact witness, which is annoying. I'm just nervous.
Dear Attorneys Working This Case,
If you don't finish my testimony today I really don't know what I'm going to wear tomorrow because I don't fit into any of my old outfits. Please be efficient.
Dear WPs, I am going back to the office for the day tomorrow. I haven't been in the office since early March 2020. I am equal parts excited and terrified. This is going to be so weird. Signed, Freaking out
Dear children, PLEASE make tomorrow morning go smoothly for me. I have to commute 30 minutes to work after I drop you off. We don't have time for you to mess around in the morning and take your sweet time getting ready. Signed, Desperately asking momma
Be aware that I’m about to piss a lot of people off by saying things that need to be said. I’m sorry you’re not going to like it, and it’s going to hurt your feelings, but if we want to grow the business you hired me to grow, we are going to need to face reality.
Signed, I’ve been here less than 6 months and I’m already really tired of delivering fact-based messages others don’t want to face
You both want to go with me next time I get a pedicure. But we can’t sit side by side and talk, so I’m kind of wondering what the point is. I was trying to figure out which request I should honor, but really I’m thinking neither.
I don’t understand how you’ve notified some kids and not others. And the range of those notified vs those not is all over the map. Some awesome kids, some mediocre kids, some terrible kids… some placed and some not. You said we’d all know today. DD2 just wants to know if she’s playing with her friends, or more importantly, wants to make sure she’s not playing with kids from her original team (which I really don’t think will be an issue since they’re all amazing).
Just let us know mmmmkay? Fingers crossed for a nice team.
twinmomma, you can do it! I actually really, really, really enjoy my days in the office...minus the commute that's about to get worse when normal people start going into the office.
You are amazing. I love you. I wish you didn't care about having a summer break, because I'd love to use you more and camp less. Unfortunately, I think that having to go through DD's summer bridge workbook with her for 15 minutes a day just may be enough to talk you out of your dream of becoming a teacher.
Signed, Your employer
PS Please take me up on my offer to buy you lunch. Pretty sure your parents told you not to, but there's only so much mac n cheese and PBJ a person should eat.
k3am, I'm so happy your babysitter is working out. I would totally talk to her about helping out on no school days and school breaks. Can you just order them all pizza for lunch. She can't say no when your kiddos are eating it too. 186momx
Dear DD I've asked if you want to go to lunch Friday for your b-day and I got I don't know. I asked what you would like for your b-day dinner and again I don't know. Could you help me out a little. Mom who's baby is turning 10
Dear BFF What is up? I haven't heard from you in ages and I'm worrying about you. You sent DD a gift card for her b-day which you never do. I'm worrying even more now that something is majorly wrong. Missing you Me
k3am, I am actually looking forward to it, but very worried about getting the kids out of the house in the morning. Actually being in the office will be great!

We have coverage for no school days and breaks, thankfully. I also want her to get a break too, so it should be nice. I suggested to DH seeing if she wants to do another week later this summer to earn coffee money, and he looked at me like I'd grown another head. But in all fairness, I work in the office upstairs (or my real office), and he works in the dining room, so whatever noise they make certainly effects him more.
And because my kids are picky assholes, I can't order them all pizza for lunch.. DD won't eat pizza and lives off pasta. DS won't eat pasta and lives off pizza. Maybe Chick-Fil-A later this week.. ideas.

Dear headache, Please go away. I don't need you. Signed, Trying to struggle through work
Dear RV buying, Why are you so stressful? I want a day to think about my purchase without having to worry that the camper I want will be sold in the next 24 hours. Signed, This is worse than buying a car
Thank you for making it obvious that I misnamed my child. I hate his full name. I never wanted it and I never used it. Heck, HE never uses it. When he saw it on his JrK certificate, he asked his teacher why she spelled his name wrong. I considered legally changing it within the first few weeks, but it's a PITA.
Signed, Sigh. This is all my fault. In so many ways.

What type of RV are you getting? We have toyed around with the idea, but the truth is that neither of us are that much into camping, and now we don't have a vehicle to tow it with anyway, unless we add a hitch to my Honda CRV.

We're looking for a camper, 24-30 feet long that sleeps at least 4. At first we were looking at toy haulers so we could camp and take our bikes too, but they're too heavy. Beau has a smaller truck with an 8,000 pound limit and if it's just the 2 of us we can put our dirt bikes in the back of the truck. There are quite a few campers that meet our requirements and in our price range, but they get snapped up within a day of hitting the dealerships near us. I didn't think I'd be into camping since it's been 20+ years and I didn't enjoy it. My hang up is taking a shower, but when we took our newly acquired old camper into the mountains over Memorial Day, I enjoyed it because I could take a shower. The old camper doesn't work for us because it has one bunk bed that requires climbing up and down a crappy ladder and only gives us a foot and a half of room between the bed and roof. Just moving the blankets I would hit my hand on the roof. Plus, it's reached the age where things are going to start failing on it.
If you think you might like it, you could try renting a camper. Although Google says that CRV's only have a 1,500 pound towing capacity, so I don't think there are many trailers that would fit that bill.
supertrooper1 , Yeah I am thinking it isn't in the cards for us since DH just got his electric vehicle which probably is going to burn through the charge too much to tow anything. We looked at renting, but they were just as pricey as staying in a house. My car is pretty close to paid off, and probably worth more than we owe, if we ever decide to upgrade. We already tried the larger vehicle with more towing, and DH found it too big as did I (for my commuter car), so I am not sure what would be in between those 2 sizes (small SUV and medium SUV).
It might be a good idea to rent if we actually had a road trip in mind instead of just going to one location.
supertrooper1, we have a 29ft hideout with a mega slide. We've had 4 adults, 1 kid, and 3 dogs in it and it doesn't feel like you are stepping on each other. Queen in the "master room" and the back has a queen bed with a bunk above. Both beds in the back fold up and lock which was our selling point when we bought because it was perfect to put a pack n play. When we have 4 adults DD sleeps on the sofa bed or the couch as she is afraid to sleep on the skinny top bunk. Our only downside is so many of the campgrounds just don't have room for a 29ft trailer. Camp spaces are 30ft or less and you have to fit both camper and vehicle in the spot and we need 50ft which is a tight fit. waverly, I see cars/small SUVs pulling the tear drop style campers but no way your family of 4 would fit. k3am, do you know how many clients we have that don't go buy the name on their SS card. Its a pain to change it but if your DS and DH is okay with it I would totally change it. Worse thing is to have to remember to put your legal name on the document but say I go by XYZ. I finally told a few payroll clients they had to include last name on timecards because I couldn't remember all the different names.

186momx, that sounds like exactly the thing we're looking for. We didn't look at the Hideouts because Beau has a thing against aluminum siding and wants one with fiberglass. Maybe I'll talk him into it when we can't find one with fiberglass. The Keystone Mallard is actually the one we should have bought but it sold before we made up our mind, and the next closest available one is 6 hours away. That's interesting about the length and fitting into campsites. My parents haven't had any problems with their 34 foot one, but they only go to a few different campgrounds.
supertrooper1, I think it is because so many of our campgrounds are very old so have very few large spaces. I love Shore Acres but they only have 2 spots we could fit in and they both reserve out so far in advance that we just pick a different campground. We love Beverly Beach in Newport. Look at the Camping Washington or Camping Oregon books. It lists all the campgrounds with site number, size, and amenities. It is our go to book when we want to explore or just dream about exploring. Later this summer I think we are going to use our camper as base camp to drive up to some more remote lakes to paddle. Camp about 2.5 hours from home and explore some of the high lakes that are still 90+ minute drive on gravel from the camp location. That is if fire season isn't crazy.

186momx, I forgot about those books! I had the Camping Washington one from 20 years ago when ex-H and I thought we were going to tent camp. And we'll probably end up in Oregon at the dunes at some point and some other places. Beau's cousins that we went camping with go to Florence every year.
Signed, sitting by the waves while everyone else is still in bed.
Dear anyone that likes beach recommendations,
I so far highly recommend Clearwater. No car needed, highly walkable, beautiful water, not as commercial and prettier setting than some other beaches.
Signed, beachlover.
Dear Ds,
We have told you to pick anything you want to do on this vacation. The one thing you REALLY want to do is eat at Hulk Hogan's restaurant? Mkay.
Signed, apparently we will be Hulkamaniacs or something along those lines today.
I love that side. We always visited my grandparents in New Port Richie, and their friends were in Clearwater. I miss those times with my grandparents which have unfortunately passed, but we did start a family tradition of going to Sarasota. We missed a few years because we did San Diego and Hawaii but maybe we will go back to FL for spring break.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
k3am now I’m curious. What is his name and what does he go by?
Re: RVs, for our July 4th trip with friends we rented a huge RV with two bedrooms. And I’m still worried about where to put everyone/where each kid will sleep.
sdlaura , both my kids have uncommon names, so this is not his real name, but basically, I liked the name Jake, and 4 days before I was due, DH decided that Jake wasn't a "real" name, and that he'd prefer Jacob... I agreed, with the preface that I'd never call him Jacob. I didn't consider that schools, doctors, airlines, etc would all require is full name. Or that DH's parents would refuse to call him Jake. which obviously endears them to me even more than they already are.
Also, because I'd never planned on naming him Jacob, I never googled Jacob + his middle name... if you reverse his first and middle name (or google it as is, google will reverse for you), you'd find a serial killer and a very famous actor from the 50's. Luckily, I think DH and I are the only ones who have googled them, and no one's brought up the serial killer. But everyone 5+ years older than us brings up the actor. When I texted my family that he was born and his name, both my sisters immediately shot back pictures of the actor and I was very, very confused.
supertrooper1, They probably go to Honeyman which has turned into a huge ATV designed campground. I would take a day and drive 30 minutes south and run the dunes in Coos Bay. If you want a break from riding I love the town of Bandon which is about 45 minutes south of Coos Bay/North Bend. There is also some really good kayaking lakes Eel Lake and Takenitch are two of my favorites.
k3am Jacob/Jake are great names, and I’ve found no one cares about middle names. Like my mom can’t remember my kids’ middle names. My nephew’s name is Jacob but no one has ever called him that. His brother is just Luke and people call him Lucas/Lukas all the time. So don’t feel bad - you really can’t win.
sdlaura, if I’d named him what I wanted to, no one would have ever called him the name I don’t like. 😉 The name he goes by is unusual enough that if you heard it alone, you would have never imagined that it had any other letters tacked on to it.
It’s a really pathetic regret I have, fully acknowledged lol

I feel like I would change it if I could get DH on board.

I feel like the ship has sailed.. it would then be changing his name in all the systems he’s already in.. no win situation.
And to think for years I gave MIL flack for naming one of her sons Frank but regretting it and calling him Jason. (He apparently goes by Frank now, but I’ve never met the man.. which is a story for another day.)
