I have a friend due with a girl on August 4th. It’s her first baby and I have made the baby an Appletree grow with me romper in size 3m-12m that’s pretty gender neutral.
I also want to make a Purl Bee Sunbonnet and an Amsterdam Romper Dress in a lightweight summery fabric.
Would you make a size 0-3 months for this summer, or 6-12 or 12-18 months for next summer? Since this is her first baby I have no idea if she’s likelyto be a quick growing kid. She also lives in Edmonton, where the outdoor season is quite short.
Or should I just ship what I’ve already made and shelve this idea entirely? I could just make a 0-3 month bonnet and send it now for this summer.

Personally, I would do the 0-3 for this summer/fall. Baby clothes can be layered so easily at that age that it's not that big of a deal if it's not quite right. They'll probably only be in it for a few weeks, so as long as you are okay with it only being used briefly, then I'd just go for it.

I whipped up the 0-3 month sunbonnet from Purl Bee tonight in a navy eyelet with super soft white cotton lining.
I will probably leave it at that and send off the present tomorrow morning. I love these little bonnets and am so sad my DD is way too big for them now.
