Fri: rest day, but also a 4 mile walk bc I can’t sit still Sat: 4 mile run Sun: mid-day 10 mile run to miss the rain. Instead of rain, tho, I got sun and humidity. I am so tired now!
BQ: I’m pretty competitive with myself, so that motivates me most days. But on days I reeeeeally don’t want to work out, I have a coach checking in on me and that gets me out the door. It’s worth the monthly cost bc I’m sure I’d skip workouts if I didn’t have a coach looking at my workout logs.
lilypad1126 I loved having a coach! I wish I was in a position to have one now, but I'm waiting til about 15 months post op from my heart surgery. I'm only rebuilding fitness now.
I have done nothing but lay or walk on the beach, eat, and drink since Friday. Glorious!
PDQ this part. I just need to put this somewhere. I am in Mexico with girfriends. One of my BFFs husbands did a road race (cycling) back home yesterday. Some guy in a truck ran into 6 cyclists, 4 of whom were critically injured. Her husband wasnt hit, but one of his friends was and is in bad shape. She has been pretty shaken up, as she knows him and it easily could have been her husband. Such a crazy and terrible situation, and it appears to have been intentional.
BQ-there are so many reasons to get up and work out, and sometimes i have to go through them all to male it happen. Mainly it comes down to the fact that im always so glad that i did it, and almost always wish that i had when i dont.
Fri - yoga 30 mins, and we walked 3.5 mi. The last sweaty mile I did with a 46 lb weight (DD2). 🤪 Sat - indoor rock climbing for about an hour Sun - nothing. I literally had my hand on a kayak to put it in the water when we heard thunder and noped it on out of there. Hoping to kayak and/or SUP later today.
@peep It's horrible! I read the news articles about it, and a friend of mine was supposed to be in the race. I read that the Masters 55+ was the category that was affected.

Yes. My friend's husband was in the next age group down, and didnt know what happened. He was waiting for his friends at the finish line when he heard what happened. So sad, and just terrifying to think of this happening.

Fri: 20 min run + strength Sat: 45 minute Peloton cycle Sun: 60 minute Peloton cycle classes, 2 mile walk
BQ: I love working out, so its usually not hard. Sure there are days I need to get up off my butt and just do it. I force myself to get into my workout clothes and once that happens I just keep going. Lately I've been begrudgingly working out in the early AM before work and its really tough. I am not a morning workout person! But, I am always happy I did it and try to remember that feeling when the alarm goes off.
Friday - ran not quite 6 miles. My custom insoles (which were WELL past their prime) catastrophically failed after the first half mile, cracked in half. Ran anyway. Spent the rest of the weekend with a sore foot. oops. Sat - swam ~half a mile. Sun - Swam more, but without watch...so not sure how far. (open water) Biked ~14 miles with my mama! Also bought new shoes and got new insoles! yay!
Having people to workout with always gets me up and moving. This is why I love my running group. have to get out the door otherwise I get "hey, where are you?" texts.
@peep, sorry to hear about that. I've been following that story. I do a lot of bike safety analysis/design stuff for work and it's so damn hard to see stories like that and know there's next to nothing design wise that could have prevented it. Malicious people, drunk people, people high on drugs piloting 1+ ton machines are fucking terrifying.

Best wishes for his recovery.
Thank you, both for your well wishes and the work that you do. That is the scariest part for me, too...the fact that there's nearly nothing from a race organization standpoint that can prevent it. Initially people were saying it may have been an accident. We werent at this race, but we've all done enough events to know that there is no way this accidentally happened.
