We haven't seen a direct deposit, but we got a letter today dated 7/2 with the amount we're supposed to get. We've moved since our 2020 return was filed, so mail forwarding delayed it. I'm guessing we'll also get a paper check (also delayed due to mail forwarding) since we haven't had a refund in several years to have a direct deposit account on file. We're in the phase out range, but have 2 kids under 6.
Is it possible to update our address for this stuff so we don't have it going to our old house through next April when we'll file a 1040 with this address for the first time?
and/or can you specify a direct deposit account after the first one?
I’m not sure if you can do it through the IRS portal or not. The USPS is a mess as we all know. They now charge like $20 to extend mail forwarding, but I highly recommend you do it. We moved in November but got a stack of forwarded mail including Christmas cards in May. I’m still receiving forwarded mail this week.
Ugh! We moved about 3 miles, but different zip code/post office. We're only a few weeks in, so I don't have a good sense yet of how good/bad it is. We didn't sell our old house until 6/30, so I didn't start forwarding until 3 weeks ago. We have only gotten a few pieces, but I wasn't sure if it was because I did a lot of address changing in the month that we owned both houses, or that we're as paperless as possible, and don't get that much snail mail anymore... or that the process just super sucks.
meganiv Do you have an account, you just couldn't get the opt out to work? Or did you have trouble creating an account? I ask b/c I had a TERRIBLE time creating an account for my mom -- actually I never could get it to accept her ID verification credentials online. Also hi are you new? Welcome.
ETA: Also, I opted out for my half but left DH enrolled and I wasn't able to change the direct deposit info from my account. So I guess I'm going to create him an account.

Susie Our move was about the same distance. The next neighborhood and post office over. I did receive some things right away. We’ve moved a lot over the years and I’ve never experienced this many delays with mail forwarding. Most of our stuff is online but I was expecting some things related to my consulting business and a relative who passed away pre-Covid.
