My car's check engine light is on. Joy.
It was at the mechanic last month for what seems like basically the exact same issue. So now I'm wondering if they didn't actually fix the problem last time or if it has mysteriously recurred, or if it's a new issue presenting similarly.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
I know it's all for show because people buying 115million$ houses aren't fucking googling, but it's fun al the same
I recognize one of those! It’s not really for sale. It’s open space where people hike that’s been tied up in litigation for almost a half century now. We picnic there occasionally.
I just learned that my position will stay remote permanently, and that I got a raise and a bonus. I am surprised, so grateful, and also feeling a bit guilty because I know how many people (not at my job but in general) are struggling and I always have trouble accepting praise/appreciation.
I bought a use bike last weekend. It was kind of an impulse buy because I am so close to a lot of stuff that’s just a touch too far to want to walk. I took it out today and did about 3 miles. It really needs a tune up. Also, my legs are jelly bc it’s been so long since I rode a bike.
I didn’t tell H I bought it. He showed up and was like “what’s this?” I felt guilty Bc 15 years ago, he bought me a hard core mountain bike and I *hated* it. Hated trail riding, hated how big and bulky it was, and hated the handlebars being lower than the seat. This one is more a “comfort” style, so I am more upright. And it’s good. I like it. It’s at least a starter to get me trying.
wawa- any recommendations for a place to get a bike tune up. On a non-high-end (Diamondback) bike?
DH and i are on vacation and there was a snafu with our hotel reservation. We returned to the room after dinner to a note on our door saying our belongings had been removed and to go to the office ASAP. When we did, the police arrived and we were accused of being squatters, screamed at by the owner, and thrown out of the hotel.
We repeatedly explained that we had reservations thru Wednesday (we did), but the owner was completely unhinged and would not listen. Luckily, we found a motel room for the night down the road,as everything for miles is booked.

That sounds awful, I'm so sorry! Do you have any recourse? It seems ridiculous that they could just kick you out, but I probably wouldn't feel comfortable staying either if the owner was acting that way. I hope you get it all sorted.

I know one of the top selling Sotheby's agents in the US. I wouldnt necessarily say it's all for show.
its a real estate company. Of course it’s not all for show. They have some crazy listings but also list 1 bed 1 bath condos. And they aren’t the only player at the top of the market (at least locally - compass dominates the market at all levels, especially for above median and high end homes). But $100 million dollar listings shine a nice glow on the 1200 sqft 3bed 2bath tract homes ‘waiting for your personal touch’
But for the very high end stuff - let’s say 25 or 30 million and up - no one is scrolling their phone waiting for new listings to drop so they can visit an open house or call their agent in hopes they might be able to squeeze in a visit between daycare pick up, groceries and work. Lol.

omg.
Watch your card to check they don’t charge you for the night.
A true random: When my DH can fall asleep, he falls asleep fast (like 10 minutes), but when he cannot sleep, like the first night in a hotel or on a plane, he cannot fall asleep for hours. It is a big swing in ability to sleep.
Me on the other hand... I think I am consistently a 20-40 minute person.

This reads like you are so calm. I would be flipping out. Glad you found a place to stay. And hope you can get something for the rest of the planned trip.
