Usually high 40s/low 50s during the day, but when it's also in the 50s in your house everywhere except the living room and bedroom, it feels a whole lot colder than what we tend to think for that temperature. Plus my apartment has the worst orientation for winter in that it gets very little sun, so even on days like today when it's in the 60s and nice outside, inside it stays cold.
I'd accept that I'm just a wussy ex-Californian, but a friend who's from Edmonton says she feels colder during winter here than there because there at least inside everything is nice and warm!
I've lived in pretty cold parts of the midwest for most of my life, and being 50 degrees indoors is not something any of us would have ever tolerated! I don't think it's just you. That IS cold indoors.
Today has been pretty productive with lots of chill. I did a quick pick-up: wiped down the bathrooms, vacuumed, and cleaned my room that becomes a dumping ground. I’m nearly done with laundry, but I also napped on the couch and watched plenty of Netflix.
There’s also some family time mixed in. Last night we went to a 10 year old bday party, and I didn’t get home til midnight. Tomorrow we are going to my bf’s tia’s house for the 4th. I’m really excited for the food!
I am most likely going to Berlin for work next summer. I've spent the past two days doing some research into how I can make it into a longer vacation. I've never been to Germany and probably wouldn't choose it on my own, but there are a lot of things I'd like to see!
I was thinking maybe just taking one person with me. Is it weird that my first choice for that person is my 13 year old (would be 14 by then)? I honestly think he'd be the easiest and most adventurous to travel with. Sorry H, LOL.
If I can figure out what he could do during my conference, I think I'm going to suggest it.
I took DS to a conference with me. His middle school had an odd calendar, and the conference coincided with one of his breaks. He would've just been entertaining himself home alone, so I figured he could do that in a hotel room while I was in sessions. It wasn't as exciting a location as Berlin, but we did some sightseeing, which was fun. DD is jealous to this day and expects a solo trip sometime, too, lol.
These are my last 2 days of freedom before chemo and radiation start. Wish I could enjoy them but I feel like crap. I'm just ready to get started (I think).
I got another Stitch Fix today, and I'm really impressed - this is my third box, and the third time I've kept everything. Somehow everything just fits the way it should.
This also means I am keeping my very first jumpsuit. I held out a long time on this trend but finally gave in. It's pretty cute and hopefully flattering? It seems really comfortable.
I also bought a pair of linen shorts at Costco yesterday for like $13, and I really like them. They are probably not the most flattering thing ever, but I have always hated the way I look in shorts and these aren't as bad as many. And they are comfortable. Between shorts and a jumpsuit, I am not sure who I am anymore. I have to run back to Costco on Monday and I am debating picking up a couple more pairs in other colors...

Do it! $13 for shorts you like is a steal, and Costco sells out quick.
I hung out with my besties tonight for the first time in 18 months (a H&W duo). The husband's dad was in town along w/ the H's sister (and one of his 2 brothers live there with them); I was emotional seeing/talking to H-Bestie's dad (he's 80 and the cutest human ever)--it made me miss my own parents (I haven't seen them in person in 2 years). I made it a point to spend a lot of time with him.
All my besties are going to come to my other property in 2 weeks to help us get the stupid little projects done, on the condition that I let them swim in the pool/give them pizza & beer, lol. Looking SO forward to it; my son has been asking if the H can come swim in the pool with him, so I fully expect that he (the H) won't be spending a lot of time on projects, but rather keeping my son entertained. Such a fun evening--I've missed my friends.
We went to an air museum and they had rides in a vintage open-air biplane. I am terrified of small planes, but I decided to do it to overcome a fear and do something cool as I’m turning 39 this week. It was so much fun!!! I am so glad I did it.
Then we went to a restaurant on a lake for dinner, where I had fruity drinks and the kids had the best time playing at a little playground they had.
Ans then we caught a fireworks show from our hotel parking lot, and 3YO DS ran up to three college guys and said, “Isn’t this so cool?!! It’s like the Disney World fireworks, dudes!” I have no idea where he got the dudes thing, but it cracked me up.
You're really describing my life right now. It's ten degrees outside (high of 18 today), but I can see my breath in the kitchen. My partner grew up somewhere it snowed from October to April, and he agrees about it being worse here. And with the lockdowns happening now, we can't even go outside to get away from the cold. I have to take off layers of clothing when I leave the house to walk the dog.
I'm sorry you can relate! We had super strict quarantine last winter, so I understand how you feel. FI and I religiously sat in the balcony during its one hour of afternoon sun each day, and that was the best part of most days.
@@@ This year we're less locked down, but the new baby has control of our schedule and doesn't always allow us to go for a dog walk during prime sun-on-sidewalk hours. Watching the tiny bit of the day's warmth slip away from inside my apartment is not my favorite.
I recently realized I don’t think I know any of my neighbors by name. I do however know the names of all their dogs. I don’t know what this says about me but I’m not upset about it.

I had a similar experience with my most recent Stitch Fix! I also got my first jumpsuit - it's a crop length which I wasn't sure about (I'm petite) but I love it! It's super comfortable and it has pockets! The only downside is obviously going to the restroom, ha ha!
Now trying to decide what to request for my next fix :-)
And go get those shorts! I also never ever wear shorts (hate my thighs) - but recently I've decided that I am going to wear the shorts! It's summer :-)

Yes - the restroom is going to be interesting! I'm glad you found one you love too.
And you should definitely do shorts too! I've honestly mostly avoided them since I was a teen, but one thing I am enjoying about getting older is that I just don't care as much. Shorts are functional and comfortable.
These are my last 2 days of freedom before …(I think).
Sending you a giant, Covid free virtual internet stranger hug. You’re going to kick ass at your treatments. The only way out is through this, so prep yourself for a fight and listen to yourself - if your body is telling you it needs something, like rest or music or trashy tv, take it. Be kind to yourself and know that people are thinking good thoughts for you 💕
The Dr ordered an MRI of my Achilles. While I am waiting he gave me prednisone for the swelling. I don’t know how I feel about this. I’ve never taken it. I should trust the Dr but I’m worried I’m going to rage out. Again, why am I like this?

Yes! It's way cuter on than I could have expected :-)
I'm definitely wearing the shorts! I got my jean shorts in my fix and wore those to a baseball game, and also got some super cute Lou & Grey shorts at Loft - they're surprisingly comfy!!!

Talk to me a little about stitch fix. I hate shopping, so I love the idea of someone just picking out clothes and sending them to me LOL. But I have some weird measurements that make a lot of clothes not fit well-- I'm very long waisted and and a size 14 at the moment.
How much detail can you give about your sizing, special needs and likes/dislikes?
Did your stylist get it right from the start, or did it take few months of back and forth to settle on your style?

You fill out a style profile with your measurements/typical sizes etc. You fill in your weight and proportions - so if you are long waisted, you can note that. It also asks about arms, shoulders, hips, legs, etc. It asks about your preferred fit and what you prefer to flaunt/hide, and also asks if you have any categories of clothing/prints/patterns that you never want. It also asks where you shop - so I think it's a pretty detailed profile. There is also a section where you can note about yourself/body shape/what type of clothes you're looking for, etc. If things don't fit when they arrive, you can still purchase it, but exchange it for a different size. I just did that this time with two tank tops that they sent.
On the app, they have this little section (it's called Style Shuffle) where they'll show tops/bottoms/shoes/etc and ask if you'd wear them, and this also helps your stylist get a sense of your style. I think it's hard to say if it takes a few tries - I have really liked almost everything I've gotten! Also, they've added a new feature that you can see what your stylist is picking out before your Stitch is sent - I'm not sure if I can comment/note on that, since this is the first time that option has come up.
I've been really happy with all my items - good quality and brands I can't typically get at the department store. Also, you can now shop the brands they work with on the app, which is pretty cool! I'd say check it out :-)
My father in law passed away last week and now there is major family drama. His first wife, my husbands mother passed away when he was 62.
His new wife of 12 years told us only pictures she is in can be used in the slide show. No pictures of him with just his kids. None of their childhood. None with deceased wife.

He lived 85% of his life without you in it lady.
I hate her.
I'm sorry for your loss. I wouldn't let her dictate this. I wouldn't participate in her slide show, no pictures and I wouldn't be there for it and I would do my own memorial and slideshow without her.
My bf was trying to transfer one line (for his daughter) from his ex wife to his account to him. Somehow the person he talked to transferred her direct tv and internet charges to us and canceled all her other stuff. Wtf.
It doesn’t help that his online logins are messed up ever since WE got direct TV while he had an existing AT&T account. I’m ready to quit everything AT&T/Direct TV related.

I would ditto what jennybee1018 said! I have been really impressed so far. I think I've had the same stylist so far, but I've only had 3 fixes and they have all been great - I kept everything each time, which I did not expect. I am really sick of a lot of my old clothes though so I think I've been an easy sell. I'm a size 16, so I don't always love all styles and clothing. You do get to put a lot of your preferences, and I think they know what looks good on your size and proportions?
Either that or it's magic. I was skeptical when I signed up but have been really pleasantly surprised.

All this Stitch Fix talk had me thinking I should look into it. But then I packed my clothes for my move today. OMG at the amount of shit I have that I’m donating. I’m consoling myself with the fact that the vast majority of it is 5+ years old and, while it still looks nice, I did actually wear everything quite a bit. But now that I work from home and only needs work tops most days (and work bottoms when I travel for work) I just don’t need that much anymore. AND we are moving south, so I’ll need summer clothes year round, so I won’t need most of my winter clothes anymore.

I haven’t even started on my shoes…..
It's all about balance :-P I gave away some dresses and then ended up with a super cute black maxi in my Stitch Fix so I was glad I had given away an older black dress, ha ha.
We had one family planned to come over and then last minute added another. It was so enjoyable to just sit and talk with everyone. All of the kids got along really well and we didn’t have any major squabbles. Food turned out well and was really tasty. Then we drove up to some soccer fields that are pretty high up and had a great view of fireworks all over the place. It was just really enjoyable and went better than I could have expected. And there’s almost no clean up to do since the only thing we cooked day of was ribs on the grill.

All the stitch fix talk- I am going back to work and need real leaving the house clothes. I tried a first box and told myself I could only keep one thing because I had credit for signing up.
I kept two things.
And could’ve talked myself into more if I had any money to spare
It was nice because I really have no idea what is in style? I go into stores and just give up before I start because the kids are whining

I had a horrible weekend. I let my mom walk all over my boundaries like an idiot yesterday. She compared me to my father when I told her her house was so messy I don’t know how she functions and I STILL helped her with the documents her lawyer needs. I should have walked out. I’m so upset with myself. She clearly still doesn’t want to hold him accountable for ruining her life and literally leaving her destitute but I say something about her trashed house (which she’s always had this issue. She’s a pack rat) and I’m the bad guy.
