I'm very self-conscious but covering myself with baggy shirts and sweatpants just isn't going to work out for me, and maybe if I have some stuff that's cute, I won't be as self-conscious. At the very least, I need to get some new pants that have a pocket for my keys (I'm a size 18W on the bottom). I also need sports bras (I'm a 40I) and maybe some tank tops (I'm a 2XL). I don't want to spend a ton because I am actively loosing weight and so I hope they only fit for a few months. I see a ton of stuff on Amazon, but I would really like some recommendations from actual people that I "know". Thanks!
I really like to wear leggings and a bigger shirt. I have some under armor, some from Amazon, and some old navy. Although now that I think about it, nothing has pockets. 🤦🏻♀️
The Marshall's/TJMaxx near me has bottoms in that size range where you could actually try them on. Almost all of my tanks are from those kind of stores. I have a few mems tanks, too.
I have also bought bottoms from Costco; they currently have tights, performance Bermudas and joggers in XXL. They aren't as soft as Athleta, but are way less expensive and seem to hold up well.
I'm a D cup, so I can often pick up sports bras wherever. Bare Necessities has a lot of sports bras on clearance right now.
Cute clothes definitely help. Do you have any outlet malls near you? Not sure on sizing but my UA outlet has up to size 2XL I believe. I was 1X when I started working out but saw 2XL.
DSG brand at Dick's sporting goods also is reasonable, has cute stuff and is up to 2XL (pretty sure). There dressings rooms are also open here if you wanted to see how they felt first.
I can't comment on whether there are pockets. I bought a waist sport pack for my things when I am out walking and exercising. I like it because I live in very rural area so I attach pepper spray right to it. There have been wild animals in peoples yards and such (Bob cats, bears and coyotes are definitely around the walking paths at night).
The pack is great because it's super lightweight but holds keys, my phone, money, ID, chapstick for winter, couple tissues. I don't always take all of that all the time 🤣 but in the winter when my lips are chapped and my nose is running from cold, tissues/chapstick are a definitely necessity. I wear cold weather gear and again NO pockets.
Those ON leggings linked above are my favorite these days. I always like Goddess sports bras, but haven't bought any in a couple years, so not sure a more current rec.
Elomi energize sports bras for sure! They are the best. I like compression capris and dri fit tees. Old Navy, Kohls, and Meijer have affordable options. Nike and UA both have plus size workout lines. Zella is good too but pricey. I also like the All in Motion line at Target.
old navy is my jam for workout bottoms. I am a 16 and wear their XL bottoms. I also wear their XL tops. I do not love their bras, but I do love their tops. They have this one that I am obsessed with--I have it in every color and pattern because you can choose how tight/loose/long it is depending on how you tie it:

I used to really like the Old Navy leggings or capris but then I got some from Lane Bryant’s Livi active line and they work so much better for my body (I am 18/20 and carry most of my weight in my midsection). No rolling/sliding down or shifting of the waist. They don’t all have pockets though, so check the details. On clearance, I can find them around or under $20 sometimes.
I can’t speak to their plus size line, but I swear by Old Navy compression leggings for working out. The PowerSoft version are nice for lighter workouts, but I prefer the compression for harder stuff. I wear an L in them as a size 12/14.
For a high-impact sports bra, I love my SheFit because it’s fully adjustable. I’m a 38F and had a hard time getting some high-impact sports bras on/off but the SheFit doesn’t have that issue.
As much as people dislike Walmart I have found they usually have a good selection of plus size workout clothes (plus bras, underwear, etc). Both in store to actually try on and online. And I like the way the way they fit and feel and they have held up really well.
Definitely check out the Athleta sale going on right now. They are great with various sizes and I love everything from there. Their stash pocket capris and leggings are great.
Ditto this but for 20% off any order Over $150 use HELLOATH20 they have free returns and quality is amazing. Also with leggings and tanks I can go between lots of sizes so I think as you lose you will be able to keep wearing them, not so much shirts and shorts
If you like fun tights, check out Constantly Varried Gear (they go up to 2X) and Athleta. Senita also has some good stuff at a slightly lower price point.
My favorite leggings/crops are the athleta salutation stash pocket, but since those are $$$ I also have a bunch of Marika (from Zulily, they are often $12.99-$19.99) with side pockets or from Old Navy.
Thank you all. I ordered some pants and a bra from Walmart and they should be in next week. I still have A LOT of weight to lose, so hopefully these at least hold up long enough until they become too big
Im a 14/16, and i wear XL and 2xl in the c9’s when i want then to be less compression.
I wear 2x in the tank tops because i have big boobs (38dd) and big hips and this allows them to go over my hips and they aren’t super big up top either
