Update: We were approved to adopt Pete the Cat, so we went to meet him today and he is a doll. He came right up to C and then me and wanted lots of pets and scratches. I do think he is getting overwhelmed living in the cattery, so getting back into a house will be great for him. We will pick him up in three weeks when we get back from the beach, which works out great because it gives us time to get all the supplies for him.
******************************************************************************************************* I am just as excited as Charlotte, this will be "her" cat. We found a litter at a local rescue that is in a foster home with dogs, so we know that they are dog friendly, which is a big hurdle.
I am hoping things will go well. We had our eye on another one, but they really want him adopted with his sister.
we are looking at Spike and Petrie of the Land Before Time Kittens. We had loved Dewey, but I don't think I can talk H into getting two kittens.
circa1978, For Petrie she likes the names Milo and now I am forgetting the other one. lol For Spike she likes Oliver or Ollie.
We will have to see how it goes when we meet them. I am also hoping if we are approved, they can stay with their foster family until we get back from the beach. I will pay if need be, just so we don't bring them home only to leave right away. But, we will see what they say.
So cute! Cera looks so much like the calico we used to have.
That entire litter sounds great. I am open to any of them; I think it will really depend on how things go when we meet them and then we will have to let them meet our dogs.

I do highly recommend getting kittens in pairs. I actually think most people who have had kittens do! Use that to convince your H. 😂
They are so, so cute! We found a litter of 6 under our shed, we have managed to rehome 2 of them. Now we have 4 kittens, cuter than can be, that we have “hand raised” since 5 weeks old and loved them to force them out of their spitty kitty phase. They purr and purr and attack us for pets and one of them licks us constantly! I don’t know how to rehome them, lol. Their names are Toothless, Stormfly, Barf and Belch.

Fans of How To Train Your Dragon?
For this litter they did say to adopt them with one of their siblings or into a home with a cat or dog. Basically so they have playmates. I do think our dogs will be good, as they were deemed cat friendly. Zoe is young and playful, so I think she would think it is great and Jake a champion lounger who likes to have a cuddle buddy. But we will see.
I totally think you should go with the tuxedo cat- every tuxedo cat I know has such a big personality and they're so sweet. Naughty, but sweet! Lol. I may also be slightly biased because DS is named Ollie so I think that's a great name choice : )

I like British sounding names for cats. I just imagine them with all different kinds of British accents. lol I think Alistair would be a great name too.
Yay for kittens! I just got two babies - only 12 weeks when I brought them home.
I highly recommend getting two if you can swing it. They will keep each other company, be built in playmates (and might ignore the dog), be easier to leave alone, and are generally adorable. I keep them in a room when I'm sleeping or at work, because they are too little to be totally free in the house, and I wouldn't have been able to do that if I just got one. Meet Freddie and Lulu - they are siblings. Big sister Dottie loves them, but is very tired from all the playing.

HA! I gave my new tuxedo kittens British names because they are fancy! I keep telling people it's a British Freddie, not an American one, because they are very different!
SO, all the Land Before Time kittens have pending adoptions, which would have been nice to put on the website, but I digress. There are other options. I will try to work on H about getting two. If that was approved I would love to get Dewey and Madelyn.
toepick, they are adorable! And yes, British names for life!

I really think it is better for the kittens and better for you if get two. If you are set on one, I would look for a slightly older cat (9 months - 1 year) because you would be able to leave them alone. Also, the dog will definitely thank you!

Those are some cuties! I will echo the 'get kittens in pairs' folks, though. Mine are a little over a year old, and though we don't have a dog, I am so glad we got two. They are the best of friends (and sometimes the worst of enemies - but not often!), keep each other in check, and are company for each other when we're not around. Seeing them snuggle and groom each other is the sweetest, and their personalities really compliment each other. I would also ask the rescue if any of them are bonded pairs since they can sometimes be attached to each other and will be sad to be separated. DH was hesitant about two, but I insisted and got my way. LOL

All the cute baby kittehs!!! Another vote for getting a pair. Two cats isn't too much different from one in terms of effort, but obviously it's double the food, litterbox cleaning and vet costs. But they're less likely to be bored and destructive if they have one another to play with, especially if they're together from the get-go. We felt bad for our one cat and finally got him a buddy when he was shy of 5. They get along ok but cat #1 wants to play and wrestle all the time, and cat #2 just wants to love on and groom #1 who is NOT HAVING THAT and just smacks him when tries lol. But I think if we'd gotten him a friend when both were little they'd have created a dynamic that works for both. Now #1 just looks at me like "could you have gotten me a brother who's more fun?". You'd think they're real brothers though, they look alike and are both 18 lbs exactly. When they do play it sounds like Wrestlemania with the 2 giant lugs throwing each other around and galloping.

OMG I want them all. I have had both orange and tuxedo cats and they are both awesome. My cat is a tuxedo and she is a sweet adorable takes my girls and my borderline annoying love well.
Madelyn is so pretty!
ETA: having two cats is like going from 2 to 3 kids. It’s nothing. Piece of cake. GET ON BOARD MR CLEO!!!!
I don't think I can get H on board. We did hear back from a different rescue about a cat that C had seen, she loves black cats. We might get to meet him this weekend.

He is very handsome and looks he would be a good snuggler. Black cats are awesome.
He seems very sweet and it sounds like he got a taste of being in a home with a foster, whose other male cat started to act out, so he had to go back to the shelter, and now he is not so happy.
And I don't get the black cat hate, it is so dumb.

Awe that is really sad. I hope it’s love at first sight with him and you can being home.
I had a black cat, she was the sweetest cat. A friend’s coworker who couldn’t keep her and tried to take her to a shelter. It was October so the shelter wouldn’t take her because it was so close to Halloween. I am was sad when I heard why that I told him to being her over. 😕

The best part is that we are heading to the beach on 8/14 and I don't want to miss out on a great cat for our family, but I also don't want to bring one home, only to go away right after. They said, they would hold our undated check and when we come to pick him up (if it were to be a good match) then they would date it and deposit it. I am so happy they are willing to do that and i do wish some other shelters would too. It also gives us plenty of time to get the supplies we will need.
Tonight I ended up picking up Oscar's ashes and clay paw print and it hit me hard. H too. I think a new fur friend will help heal our hearts a bit, especially since we are not getting a new dog right away.
