I saw somebody comment something along these lines on a facebook post from our gov today. Something along the lines of "I want hogan to tell us how many illegals he's been forced to accept who are coming in on buses without vaccination"
their network is strong
Also in MD, and my state Senator posted this bullshit.
for a hot second I thought you meant like, senator senator, not state senator and I was like, "omg which of them has been abducted by aliens? it's a cry for help! panic panic!!"

All the hospitals in our large metro area came out yesterday announcing employees will be required to get the vaccine. I am so happy with this. I cannot wait to see if the 20ish nurses I know who are anti-masking, Trump lovers really quit their jobs like they’ve been saying they will.

I'm expecting pure disaster in Houston. In-person learning, mask mandates forbidden, full capacity, and many places back to on person work so big brother can watch easier.
My health care friends are posting to avoid the ER at all costs.
At the same time, I can not bring myself to lock myself in any longer. I still wear a mask and if pisses off Abbott GREAT!
I am just overwhelmed.
Awesome. My sister and BIL were in the ER for like 8 hours yesterday because he was having chest pains and something going on with his heart, and they had no beds for him elsewhere. I guess he finally got a bed and spent the night last night. I hope they didn't both get COVID in the process - they are both vaccinated, but their whole household isn't yet.

Spoiler alert - they won't
Oh they might. I believe Houston had one of the first hospital systems to mandate vaccines in the country. A hefty percentage of workers did indeed quit.

Ha! And my first thought was Andy Harris… but, yeah, he’s a rep, not senator.
For those that have anti-vax, Trump loving friends and family, what do they say about the fact that Trump is vaccinated? Why does that not help persuade them? Not being sarcastic. I'm genuinely curious.

I don't have any such family but from what I've seen online - "He's old."

According to my BFF's batshit mother, Trump didn't actually get vaccinated, he got a saline injection to fool people.

I've heard a variety of he didn't actually get it since it wasn't public or he received something else instead of the vaccine like saline.

I haven't been able to get a comment on that. Those people are very good at deflection.

This came up on FB a few days ago with someone I used to be friends with in high school... She said it's everyone's personal choice that shouldn't affect anyone else and she is respectful of everyone having that choice, vaccinated or not (unlike people who are being rude to her about not being vaccinated). Her Dr. told her this vaccine is like the flu vaccine and not like the traditional vaccines of our childhood (polio, MMR etc) so it isn't actually stopping spread, thus everyone should deal with the situation on a personal level like they do any other illness.

Wait, what?! To what end? I am so confused.
Right!?! What could he possibly gain from doing that? If the vaccine isn’t safe, why would he want people to think he got one? And why would anyone support someone who would engage in that type of deception? Why go through the trouble of getting a saline injection instead of just outright refusing the shot? Who do they think he was trying to appease and why would he do that?

You're trying to make sense where there is none. Logical thinking does not apply here.

This is extra batshit because Trump got the vaccine in secret! He was vaxxed in Jan. but the story didn't break until March. So, to believe this you would have to assume Trump SECRETLY got a saline injection JUST IN CASE the news leaked. It's not like he did it on Fox News or something! Like, he could just lie instead of doing a saline injection.

They seem to ignore that little nugget of info, and probably will until he dies at which time they will blame the vaccine for killing him.
I know this is petty and small, but the Green Knight looks really good and I wish I felt like I could see a movie in the theater right now.
My spouse and I are fully vaxxed but we have @ younger household members who can’t yet, and I just don’t feel right risking bringing it home.
We went to an 11 am showing of a movie in June and it was surprisingly empty, especially for a @@ kids movie. There was plenty of room to be distanced from the other people that were there. So maybe a matinee especially after the movie’s been out for a bit wouldn’t be too crowded?
I’m not sure if this would be an option for you, but our local theater is also still renting out theaters for less than they charged pre-COVID. It’s only $99 on certain days early in the week which isn’t a bad price considering the price of tickets normally. If you had trusted, vaccinated friends or family who would want to go in on it with you, it could be one way to see it on the big screen without having to worry too much about strangers.

Not that this is totally relevant: I wouldn't burn ANY covid points of the Green Knight. I have no idea why it was so highly reviewed. A total thumbs down from my view.

How disappointing! I like Dev Patel and I’m a sucker for re-imagined Arthurian stories.
Our hospitalisations are levelling off but still sitting at a higher number than late spring. I am worried that with people travelling, kid camps starting and lots of big indoor and outdoor functions happening that we're going to see spikes again.
Unfortunately, our younger people are not searching out vaccinations because they feel they aren't at risk...I wish they would read the below.

My hospital system just announced. There will be a town hall next week and I'm expecting it to be interesting.
Our health care consultant at work was telling us to be worried about Lambda at a meeting yesterday. Ugggggh, fucking covid!
Also, I'm having flashbacks to rush in college and having to learn the Greek alphabet.
My first reaction was, man, there are a lot more letters to get from delta to lambda than from alpha to delta. I guess we just don't hear about every single variant that gets identified.
That really gives a bigger picture that multiple variants have emerged that are thought to be more transmissible + have reduced vulnerability to both post-covid and post-vaccine antibodies and for which the EUA monoclonal antibody treatments don't work as well -- which sucks because we have so very little in the way of treatment. Delta is the one that blew up, but this thing is changing so fast.
Last month, experts in India labeled the variant one of concern and warned that it appeared to be more transmissible than most. Citing studies, the country’s health ministry said that the variant has the ability to bind more easily to lung cells and could be resistant to therapies used to treat the infection.
