I went into the office to clean out my cube on Thursday. Pulled something in my back moving textbooks. I can hardly move today. And, it wasn’t until like 11:00 last night, as I was struggling to get comfortable in bed, that I made the connection that it was a workplace injury. I was off work for other reasons on Friday, so technically, today was my first day back since it happened, so I emailed my boss. And really, the main reason I said anything is because my leftover post-surgery meds aren’t cutting it, so I want to go to the doctor and get something else, and I know as soon as office shows up in the notes, my insurance company will send me the paperwork to document it happened at work (to subjugate). So I figured I should tell someone.

I hate my Olympics hangover. I don't even drink that much! It's just from staying up later than usual and watching too much TV. But, always worth it. And then I get to do this again in 6 months.
I bought a heated eyelash curler (grande lash brand). I have strait DOWNWARD pointing eyelashes and no curler touches them, really. Even she uemura. Not only is this annoying from a vanity standpoint, they also drag against my glasses when I blink.
This works! My eyelashes don't curl per se, bit they sorta angle upish!

Anyway. Small victories.
Have you tried having them lifted? AKA getting them permed?
I don't know why lash lifts are more acceptable to me than a heated curler. Maybe past trauma involving a lighter and a curler and losing some lashes...
I don't know which is my most hated job - dealing with printer supplies, ordering business cards for people (who can and should order them themselves), or finding all the damn receipts and reconciling them.

My hatred of scheduling things when I already feel like both at work and home I spend all of my time scheduling things is why I haven't gotten a lift. I'm also loathe to do anything requiring maintenance. Because I hate scheduling things. Ha.

I had no idea the pain of managing office supplies and supply budgets until I took my current role.

Usually it's not too bad, but today it was a perfect storm of all three. With an added dash of, "Oh, I need to set up an account for that, you can't complete reconciliation." The fuck you say, accountant person.
I’m on mobile - anyone else having an issue with ads covering more than half your screen? I don’t think it’s even monetized, most of the problem seems to be the PSAs. I’d feel more appreciated if I could see what I’m typing.

Today was legit the most Monday of all the Mondays. My wife was off work because our ridiculous state still somehow celebrates the US bombing Japan as a holiday (yikes) but I had to work. And it rained all day and work is a mess and I just want to hibernate.
Non-update about my boss leaving is that apparently there is a big war happening between factions of senior management about whether I should fill her role and I’m so exhausted and we have so much work to do. I don’t have time for this bullshit but if I end up being asked to do way more work with no raise and no title change I’m going to job search.

After getting a PhD and vowing I was done with school forever, I am officially enrolled in a graduate-level GIS class for the fall semester. I have to remember how to do this student thing.
This means I can go back-to-school clothes shopping, right?
We submitted an application for a pug puppy at a flat faced dog rescue and have advanced to the phone interview stage!!!! Facetime interview on Wed. So excited/nervous. Send us pug vibes!
I had a video visit with my doctor yesterday and got muscle relaxers for my back. This seemed really odd for a video visit, but the triage nurse scheduled it (I had in person schedule for today), and my doctor agreed it was such a classic presentation and complaint, that video was ok.
At one point, I told he I feel like I’m falling apart. This is my second injury appointment in a month. Both times, related to bike riding (lifting injury reactivated by biking Sunday). What the hell…. Being more active is supposed to be good for me, and yet I keep ended up hurting myself. I guess it’s trying to up my activity at middle age… but I feel like I’m in a 65 year old body. And, I tend to blame cancer and treatments (there are studies that say it does age your body), so on the one hand, I blame my old oncologist. On the other, he’s the one that gave me the bike! ( I was only planning on borrowing it for a week while mine was at the repair shop, but now he says not to return it, he has too many bikes). And, if anyone is really wondering about that, no longer doctor-patient as he left practice 18 months ago.
My home office faces the street, and my neighbors house. She is washing her windows. We have been here since mid-June and this is the second time I’ve seen her washing her windows. She also sweeps her front yard. Like I see her out there with a broom sweeping stuff out of the base of the big oak trees.
She is an older lady, lives alone. I guess it keeps her busy. But… it makes me feel like such a slacker. I’m lucky to wash windows, inside an out, once every couple of years. 😂

does the bike need to be adjusted? I mean, also I'm sorry you feel like you're falling apart - but it's a lot easier to hurt yourself on a bike that doesn't fit right. So just throwing that out there!
wawa, it’s possible. The first injury was just using new muscles. And this one, I think, is just going out before I was ready. And there were hills on the back side of the lake 😂 But really, I think it comes down to 47 year old hopping on things just like she did in her 20s, and the body not responding as a 20 year old body did. Plus, I was really out of shape. The only real things I did were swimming, which I stopped in March 2020, and walking the dog. Not exactly ready for real activity.

DH's credit card number got compromised. We're in WA so when someone tried to spend $50 at Target in NY I got a text asking if it was us. Um, no. It also looks like they tried to get something small (like $4) a day ago to see if the number worked. Whoops.
