The kids (all three since flaky mom did go) did really well at their tryouts! The coach who tested them recommended they do 3-4 weeks of lessons to really have a good handle on freestyle and backstroke, and then they can move up to precompetitive team. DD forgot how to use her arms in the backstroke because we didn’t know backstroke was part of the tryout so hadn’t practiced it. DS was so excited, he kept reverting to doggy paddling because he had a huge grin on his face and wanted to look at the coach who was walking beside him. It was adorable. DS wants to go back today and try out again.
mommyatty, Very exciting! My girls were right on the cusp of that cut off too. Somehow they made it to the actual team. We have our first drop in training tonight, but I realized that all their sneakers are at dad's and he's out of town, so they can't participate in the dry land exercise portion. Looks like we're missing it. It's just an optional drop in a couple times a week until real practice starts in a couple weeks. But I feel bad that we're going to have to skip the first one unless I can dig up some old sneakers around here somewhere.
