For those who got it, how were the side effects compared to the 2nd dose?
Not me, but my mom got a 3rd shot and she said her side effects weren't quite as bad as the 2nd shot. She was laid up for about 48 hours with a fever, headache, nausea, etc with shot 2. Shot 3 she said wasn't near as bad and after about 12 hours she was feeling better.

I got mine 24 hours ago. I’ve had a slight headache and sore arm since almost immediately. And I feel “off,” hot but no fever, and took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. I’ve been trying to avoid taking ibuprofen so I hope it goes away soon.
With my second shot, I had a sore arm, and was tired with achy legs at about 24 hours after, and it only lasted about 6 hours. So far, my side effects aren’t bad at all.
With the news of the October booster for all, I decided to just book my appointment for next week. I'd rather get it done early and know that the two weeks are up before my return to office roll out begins and I'm exposed to more people. Plus, my kids are with their dad next weekend, so if I feel terrible from side effects I can relax and recover.
I scheduled my 3rd with CVS but then felt that maybe a healthcare worker or someone older could use it before me so I canceled the appointment.
They seem readily available and it appears no documentation or proof is needed.
Should I wait or go for it?
(I have a compromised immune system but not like an organ transplant, cancer, etc.)
Please go get the booster!!!
First, the booster shot is the same shot you got the first two times. Second, we have a surplus of vaccine in the U.S. because people are not getting the shot in the first place. You're not taking anything away from anyone. Third, you qualify for the third shot because of your compromised immune system so take advantage of what is being purposefully made available to you.
If you qualify for the booster shot, GO GET THE SHOT! You are not taking a shot away from someone else. We have enough vaccine for people to get their primary series as well as those who need a booster. You are helping not only yourself when you are better vaccinated; you are also contributing to community immunity.

I had barely a reaction from shot 2- just a little sluggish. Shot 3 kicked my ass for a full 24 hours. Chills, fatigue, arm pain, headache, just basically felt like shit. Feeling fine today!

Are people supposed to get the same vaccine they got before? Are you calling the pharmacy to confirm what type they have? I’m wondering how the logistics work. I need to get my dad an appointment.

Was it Pfizer or Moderna? ETA: Just trying to prepare myself for when it comes around! My 2nd shot had me feeling like your 3rd did.

I booked on CVS.com and it asked what brand you received and then it showed appts only that had that brand.
It fascinates me how the US and Canada have handled the brand thing so differently. From the get go Canada has just been about getting two mRNA shots in arms, probably because we had such a shortage in the beginning and then after we were relying heavily on AZ, it got pulled. The vast majority of people I know had a mix and match. My parents in the states had to wait for their second dose because the pharmacy didn't have Moderna and they would not give Pfizer as their second. I was joking with H that I will only get Pfizer for a 3rd because I've already has AZ and Moderna. I'm collecting vaccines over here.
