I'm sitting next to a maskhole on my flight. He just got his 3rd warning for improper mask wearing. He finally accepted the new mask offered by the FAs.

OMG... that is so horrible. Did it get on the plane with the mask? Because they should check everyone before getting on the plane

Oh yeah. He had a mask but it kept falling off his nose because it was old and worn out. They offered him a new one with the first complaint. Another guy asked him to fix it and he said "You don't think these do anything, do you?" He and his wife switched seats so then he was next to me and he kept doing it so I got up and went back to the FAs. The head FA came out and said "Here's a new mask. If you do this again, you're on the no fly list for all domestic airlines." I'd planned on writing a general 'thank you' note to the crew and brought a card with me. I'm really glad I did now because of that asshole.
fumbalina I’m sorry, what a shitty policy!! I wish people would be transparent, not doing anyone any favors and just making this last longer.
They have made it clear that they believe the vaccine works 100% of the time. They used to close locations with a known exposure for "deep cleaning." I realized they stopped when they kept encouraging those who have not received the vaccine because of people calling in sick with COVID, but nothing was closed.
Of course, they lied even at the beginning because every exposure reported was in the department that was the absolute smallest. I never believed the department of 15 had more cases than the one with 150.

OMG I am livid on your behalf. That is so shitty:((
Yes, it has been. There are of course other things that have been bothersome. I worked from home since last May, but they had us all return in June, and sent a few select back home again. As long as it was me working at home, I did not have the huge motivation to job search, but since we have returned, we have lost an average of 20 people a week (and rehired 2-10).
I know there are lots of Texans on here. I am participating in this study if anyone else is interested. Did my first blood draw on Thursday and got my results today. It satisfies my curiosity and also contributes to the studying of Covid and infection rates and antibodies. Win win I think.

Op-Ed: As a doctor in a COVID unit, I’m running out of compassion for the unvaccinated. Get the shot
If you believe the pandemic is almost over and I can ride it out, without getting vaccinated, you could not be more wrong. This virus will find you.
If you believe I’ll just wait until the FDA approves the vaccine first, you may not live to see the day.
If you believe if I get infected I’ll just go to the hospital and get treated, there is no guarantee we can save your life, nor even a promise we’ll have a bed for you.
If you believe I’m pregnant and I don’t want the vaccine to affect me, my baby or my future fertility, it matters little if you’re not alive to see your newborn.
If you believe I won’t get my children vaccinated because I don’t know what the long-term effects will be, it matters little if they don’t live long enough for you to find out.
If you believe I’ll just let everyone else get vaccinated around me so I don’t have to, there are 93 million eligible, unvaccinated people in the “herd” who think the same way you do and are getting in the way of ending this pandemic.
If you believe vaccinated people are getting infected anyway, so what’s the point?, the vaccine was built to prevent hospitalizations and deaths from severe illness. Instead of fatal pneumonia, those with breakthrough infections have a short, bad cold, so the vaccine has already proved itself. The vaccinated are not dying of COVID-19.

Do you know if they want people who know they've tested positive? I'm vaxxed and still got it. I end my isolation tomorrow.
I think they want everyone. They ask you in the survey if you’ve ever tested positive. The antibody test tests for levels from infection and vaccination.
I have progressed to the vomiting stage of Covid. I hate vomiting SO MUCH. Luckily DH's PCR came back negative.
A tip for anyone getting a test at Walgreens or CVS, take a pic of the paperwork so that you can access the results online directly through the lab. Otherwise it takes even longer to get the results because you have to wait for the lab to notify whomever the pharmacy is using to report results and then get the results from them. It's ridiculous that turnaround is taking 4+ days at this point in the pandemic.
